A shooting affray occtired on
Franklin street near the livery stable

Luckily no one was hurt, but the
crowd which gathered to see the fun

Batten gave bail for his appearance

morning. Other arrests will probably
be made this morning.
Prof. Lflnghridge and wife went
to Iowa City last week to be present
during commencement at the State
University, after which they will
ppend the summer visiting friends
before sailing in October for their
field of labor in India.

A little daughter of Wm Gnlllon,
the ferryman at Durham's Ferry,
a?ed about ten years fell off of the
1 erry boat, one day lant week, the
'oat passing over her. A young
man named Morris jumped in after
Jwrand succeeded in reaching her
after she had come up the second
time and took her ashore about two
hundred yards below the ferry. She
had her dinner pail in her hand
when she fell into tho water and
hung to it till she was taken out.

Morris deserves great praise for hi*,
