9 SANTA FE NOTES Conductor Jesse Howea is running on the extra board. ' Engineer William Robinson of New ""Xon was in Topeka, yesterday on busi ness. 1 Engineer W. E. Wheeler is laying off for a fw days on the Marceline runs. Rev. Frank E. Mallory addressed the noon meeting in , the machine shops today. ' J. W. Reed. , auditor of the Fred Harvey system, was -in Topeka yester day on a business trip. Conductor E. O. Roose has reported for work after having been off and spending a month in the hospital. Conductor French is running on runs Nos. 1,2, S and 9 in the place of Conductor Finnucane of Argentine. Engineer J. T. Eversole returned to work this morning on runs Nos. 17 and 18 between Topeka and Kansas City. , Brakeman Ellison is running in the place of George Stone on runs Nos. 1 and 82 between Topeka and Argen tine. Engineer John Helvie is running in the place of Engineer Minard on runs Nos. 17 and 18 between Topeka ana Newton. Conductor McCabe is running in the place of Conductor Fleeker on runs Nos. 63 and 64 between Topeka and Emporia. Carl Ledeman left for Chicago this afternoon where he will enter the em ploy of the electrical department on extra work. Engineer John Hand has returned to work in the pool and has relieved Engineer E. D. Webb who was run ning in his place. Engineer Andy Neugebauer has been assigned to work In the pool in the place of Engineer W. H. Jones who resigned his position. Harry Ditlow of the Newton shops is in the local hospital where he is be ing treated for severe injuries which he sustained in his hand a few days ago? V, Conductor Claude Hewitt is run ning temporarily on runs Nos. 119 and 120 between Topeka and Atchison in the place of Conductor Hewitson who has resigned. n Captain R. M. Spivey of the Harvey system returned to Albuquerque this morning after having been in Topeka for a few days on a visit to relatives and his family. Runs Nos. 119 and 120 between To peka and Atchison are advertised for a conductor. The oldest conductor making application for the runs be fore June 12th will be assigned. Fireman Herzmark has been as signed to work in the place of Fire man N. F. Fouch on runs Nos. 113 and 114 with Engineer Davidson. Fire man Fouch is taking a vacation. Fireman Gresham has been given a temporary assignment on runs Nos. 107 and 108 between Topeka and St. Joe in the place of Brakeman Ottman who is laying off on account of sick ness.. Albert L. Hollister of Onaga, Kan sas, has been employed as assistant secretary of the Railroad Y. M. C. A. in the place of Claude Blake. Roy Blake, who has been at work nights, will work in the daytime and Hollister will take Blake's place at night.' He will also continue his studies in Wash burn college during the summer. Got the Wrong Men. John T. Janes and Max Leon today filed affidavits with the supreme court denying that they are or have been agents for the Fred Miller Brewing company. Janes and Leon were served with papers in this case by the sheriff of Crawford county. The two men say that not only have they never acted as agents for the company, but that they know that the company Nv never has had any agency in the state , vff Kansas.
