Falls Vnder Train at Cheyenne and Loses Both Less. Cheyenne, Wyo.. Sept. 7. William Kelsey of Denver, who fell beneath a train at the Union Pacific depot yester day, and who later submitted to ampu tation of both legs, is in a very critical condition and there Is practically no hope for his recovery. His wife ar rived from Denver this evening. 'Bill" Kelsey lived in Topeka about 15 years, and only left this city about a month ago. Kelsey was a first-class printer, and has worked at his trade on all the Topeka publications. He was employed at the Crane printing house for eight years. W'hen he left Topeka a month ago, Kelsey went to Denver, and It Is sup posed was remarried to his wife, from whom he had been divorced a year be fore. She was the widow of Engineer Brennan, who was killed In the Lang wreck. The Kelseys had conslderaDie family trouble, and were frequently separated for a short time, but these disturbances were of short duration. Kelsey was 43 yeais of age, and a man of striking appearance. He had many friends as a result of his genial and whole souled disposition. Both Kelsey and his wife were mem bers of the Fraternal Aid, an insurance order. BANKED IN H!S CELLAR. While Slaking n Deposit Two Men Slugged and Robbed Him. Lincoln. Neb.. Sept. 7. While bury ing $675 In his cellar last night Sam Westerfleld. a colored restaurant keep er, was slugged by two unknown rob bers and his money taken from him. His head was badly cut and he was kicked into insensibility. Two negroes who worked for him during last week have been arrested as suspects. The receipts of the restaurant have been large during the last week because of the state fair and he banked in the cellar each night. AND SUCH IS FAME. Police Receive an Inquiry About Cyrus Leland's Whereabouts. It Is probable that "Uncle Cy" Leland Is the mort widely known man In the state of Kansas, but although he has headed several delegations to the Na tional capitol, it may be gathered from a communication received by the chief of police last evening that "Our Uncle Cy's" fame has not reached the pension and back-pay specialists of Washington. Behold the query: "Dear Sir: We are anxious to know the whereabouts of Cyrus Leland. if living, or of his widow, children or other heirs, if dead- He was appointed and com missioned during the civil war a T. Regardless of the fact that several persons propheM?d that Mr. Leland was a "dead one" after his flop to the Curtis forces, the chief of police had no trouble in giving the desired information. The police find easy money In Grant Gunter. the colored man who drives Dr. McCHntock's automobile. During the past month they have arrested and fined him three times for speeding, and last evening they charged him with driving on the wrong side of the street. J. F.
