THE TOPEKA DAILY STATE JOXTRNAIr TUESDAY EVEK?NS, NOVEMBER 10, 1908. 9 ' 'v Sjf CHARLES F. MURPHY, TAMMANY LEADER, WHOM MANY DEMOCRATS CRITICISE. The result of the election in New York causes Democrats in many parts of the country to severely criticise Charles F. Murphy, leader of Tammany. In dependent Democrats, men who do not belong t6 the organization,, openly de clare that Tammany did not do its full duty at the polls. Some members of the organization also threaten to make war on Murphy. Richard Croker, the former Tammany leader, 1b expected in this country soon, and the various fac tionists probably will seek his aid in untangling the snarl that the famous political body seems to have allowed to enmesh It.
