ficial figures on the American and
National baseball clubs and players
wm announced here today, and the
dope bugs will now have all winter to
figure and make comparisons between
their favorite teams and individual
players.
In the National league Brooklyn
leads in club batting with 269 per
cent and New York is second with
PhiladelDhia third. In club fielding
Boston, St. Iouts and Pittsburgh tied
for first honors with New York next
on the list.
In the American league Philadel
phia leads in club batting with 270
per cent and Detroit is second. Phil
adelphia laso leads in club fielding
and New York takes second place.
Pitching Records.
The pitching records of the National
league show that Neihaus of St. Louis;
Hughes, of Boston; and Ritter of New
York lead with 1000 per cent. Coere
ham, the former Topeka Western
league pitcher who finished his first
year in big time with the Boston
Braves this year won one game and
lost three, thus making 250 per cent.
Two of the three leaders won one
game each and lost none and Hughes
won two and lost none. Rudolph,
who worked against Philadelphia in
te whorld's series Frdlay won 32 and
lost only eight games during the sea
son. Mathewson of New York won 23
and lost 13 during the season.
In the American league two pitch
ers won one game each and lost none,
thus making 1000 per cent. These are
Davies of Philadelphia and Cooper of
Boston. Bender, who was knocked
out of the box by the Boston Braves
In Friday's world series game, won 17
and lost three games during the sea
son. Reynolds, another Topekan with
Detroit won 5 and lost 3 with a per
centage of 625.

year in successioon Ty Cobb of Detroit
and Georgia has won the batting cham
pionship of the American league. Fig
ures published here today final though
unofficial give Cobb a- percentage for
the season Just closed of 368. In the
National league Jake Daubert of Brook
lyn retains the title as champion, with
.329, though several batters in a dozen
games or so have higher percentages.

First Match Games of Season Are on
Today's Schedule.
New York. Oct. 10. Games between
teams of more equal strength today
marked the passing of the practice sea
son on eastern college gridirons and the
results are expected to show a marked
change in the playing form of the teams
that usually enter into the final reck
oning for championship honors.
Yale and Harvard will play against
worthy foes. Yales line up against Le
high, the eleven that last Saturday de
feated Carlisle. The Lehigh eleven is
rated highly by its followers and is ex
pected to give Yale a real test. Har
vard will face the strong Washington
and Jefferson team.
Washington and Jefferson scored IOC
points against Dickinson last Saturday.
Princeton will play Syracuse and is
expected to register another triumph, as
there has been no word of exceptional
power at Syracuse.
The principal games in the east fol

LEVIXSKI WINS FIGHT.
Gunboat Smith Outpointed In New
York Bout Friday Night.
New York, Oct. 10. Battling Le
vinsky of this city outpointed and out
fought Gunboat Smith of California in
a 10-round 1 out here Friday night.
Levinsky weighed 172. Smith was
ten pounds heavier. Smith did all the
leading in the first four rounds, in
each of which he had a fair margin.
Levinsky woke up in the sixth and
waded into the gunner with rights and
lefts to the body. Smith landed oc
casionally, but Levinsky had all the
better of it, rushing Gunboat hard to
ward the end.

' "Pinners' Quinlan, eonsidered one
of the best outfielders who has ever
played in the Pacific Coast league,
will report to the Chicago White Sox
at the close of the Coast league sea
son. Quinlan is the lad who finished
last year with the St. Louis Na
tionals and was farmed to Oakland in
the spring ef 1914.

Next Monday evening, October 12, the
Knights of Columbus, their families
and friends will celebrate, in the club
rooms at 201 East Eghth street, the an
niversary of the landing of Columbus
in America. The day, which is of un-i
vernal hstorical significance, is cele
brated by the councils of the Knights
of Columbus throughout the United
States.
Rev. Patrick Mclnerney, - a Kansas
City lecturer of established reputation,
will deliver the address. The presence
of Father Mclnerney, who is a brother
of the temporary pastor of the Assump
ton church, will lend an especial inter
est to the meeting as his name has been
persistently rumored in connection with
the appointment of a permanent rector.
The presiding officer of the meeting
will be Rev. F. M. Hayden whose ready
wit is never more in evidence than
when serving in that capacity. A
musical program will be furnished by
Miss Mary Fitzgerald. Master Walter
Griley and Mr. R. N. Lattner.

Vol lands and Rock Islanders Play at
League Park Tomorrow Afternoon.
The second game of the post-season
Topeka City league series will be
played Sunday afternoon at League
park, - and if the Voilands win the
series will be over. However, the
Rock Islands will make the fight of
their lives and still have high hopes
of winning the pennant and cup for
the railroaders.
Parnell will do the pitching for the
Rock Island team and Simpson will
work again for the Voilands. The
game will be called promptly at
o'clock. - j .
