IMMENSE WHIG MEETING OF ADOPT ED CITIZENS. Agreeably to announcement, an immense meet in^ of ad >pied citizens, consisting mostly of Ger mans ?nd Irishmen, took place on Monday mght in th* spacious Fourth Ward Club room in Warh iuirtoti Hail. The room, which is calculated to accommodate 1,200 persons, was completely crowded, and very many were unable to get in at all. T ie meeting was called to order by Mr. George Kay lor, President of the German Clay Club, alter which Mr. G. C. Collins, an adopted cinzeu Irom Ire and, adJrcesed the assemblage in an able, eloquent, and convincing speech. Ho alluded to the recent disturbances in Philadelphia, and proved clearly that the Whigs, as a party, had neither part nor lot in them, further than to assist in preserving order and protecting the rights of all good citizens. He also went on to show that the Locofocos had been the first insti gators of what is termed the Native American party. His address throughout was mo?t enthu siastically cheered, and gave universal satisfac tion. After closing his remarks, Mr. Raine, editor of i lie German Correspondent, made a short speech in Ger nan, wherein he staled that the Whigs were not responsible for the actions of the Native American party, and that any adopted citizen from whaiever nation, was greatly deceived if be or they entertained any such opinion. Mr. R. spoke also of the great advantage resulting from a Pro tective tariff, and proved clear.y that all those measures contended for and advocated by Henry Clay, were saleguards to workingrnen, to the country, its noble institutions, and to every spe cies of honorable industry. A more enthusiastic gathering of Whigs could not have been wished. Shouts resounded long and loud for Harry of the West, for Frelinghuy Fen, and for the prosperity of Whig principles.? Ball. Pat. A Young Burglar.?A lad aged fourteen, son of a respectable citizen of Alleghany, Pa., has been arraigned in Pittsburg, charged with the commission, single-handed, of four extensive bur glaries, which he perpetrated in as many weekB. He pleaded guilty to two of them. We learn from the St. Louis papers that the Mississippi was again rising, and it was feared that it would attain a ereater height than the re dent flood. On the 13th inst. it was within twen ty-lour inches of the one just subsided. mm?SSS2S LJ --1 Sands' Sarsaparii.i.a.?It would be well if pre pa rations from the herbs and plants on Earth s sur face were more frequently prescribed by Physicians, and mineral poisons less ?There is a South Ameri can bird which, when bitten by the rattle snake, in its conflicts with that reptile, resorts to a certain herb, ?.ats of it, and lives. A single leaf expels the virus and restores the little flutterer to health, rre cisely in the same way, though less rapidly, does Sands's Sarsaparilla destroy the virus of disease in the hu-nan system?and by thus purilying the fluids of the bodv, it removes the external developments of an unhealthy circulation.
