when coming in the passage yesterday.
She was towed off by the Kapiolani.
The wharf at Kakaako was taken over
ami temporary laid for the landing of
the Chinese into Kahakaaulami yester
day. The Rio de Jancrio, Capt. Searles, 13
days from Yokohama, arrived yesterday
with COO Chinese immigrants, 3 of whom
are women. She sails to-day for Sail
Prnnclsco.
The W. II. Reed has finished sound
ing. Schr Mary Alice brought 120 bags of
sugar.
Stmr Mokolii brought 580 bags sugar,
209 bags of riec, 48 bbls of molasses and
21 (hides.
The Myrtle Boat Club expect a 4
oared race boat by the Alameda. It is
40 feet long, 2 feet C inches wide, with
out-riggers and 16 Inches high. '

Kauai. The greatest depth found
wa3 1,872 fathoms.
Monday being a general holiday,
the aniuvcrsarj' of the birthday of
Kamchamcha III, the batik and
several of the leading business houses
will be closed. The Lchua, Mokolii
and Kilauca Hou will not sail till
Tucsda'.

to speak in Fort Street Church on
Sunday evening. People who have
copies of Gospel Hymns arc re
quested to take them as they will be

Pastor Cruzan will preach.
Tin: question has been frequently
asked within the last two weeks
why ladies shoe ware has not been
displayed in the Fort street window
of M. Mclnerny's store. The ladies
can now enjoy the view of the fine
goods displayed, and step inside
and make an early selection.

A few days rain would show the
beautiful condition of the streets.
At present the depth of dust con
ceals tho cavernous recesses which
will, with rain, become seas of liquid
mud. An accident is expected on
Richard street near King. The Sec
retary to the Board of Health is the
nearest physician.
Dn. Whitney met with an accident
on Thursday afternoon when driving
along King street. Tho wheel of
his carriage was smashed, and both
the Doctor and his boy driver were
thrown out, the former being con
siderably shaken. The boy stuck
to the reius and succeeded in stop
ping the horse before further damage
was done.
Dn. Fitclf has just returned from
Molokai. Will ho kindly inform us
if it be true that forty-three patients
died there, in the months of January
and February, out of between 800
and 000, from other causes than
leprosy. Dysentery is said to be
prevalent there and medical attend
ance is much needed. Tf the above
death rate bo correct, itisattlio rate
of 30 per cent, of the number of
patients.

Ah Poon, Kihci, Ho Pui, See Hop
and Mauana, charged with creating
an affray at Manou, wcro remanded.
Puniai, Linn Mok, Ah Lung, Ah
Sec, Ah Ling and Ah Fat, were
charged with creating an affray at
Pauoa. Puniai was lined 85 und
costs 82 and Lum Mok $5 and costs
81, Tho others wcro discharged.
