ARRESTED ON SUSPICION.
Special Police Ofllccr William Lar
son arrested a Chinaman this morn
ing on suspicion of having commit
ted some of the late chicken stealing.
In his possession were found two
gunny sack bags. On one of the
bags was labeled the name "Dodge."
Larsen asked the Chinaman where
he lived, when tie led the oflicer to a
vegetable garden near the baseball
grounds. On arriving there he said
he lived somewhere else. John was
brought to the Police Station, where
on examination be said, "No trouble,
no trouble." The fact of the China
man going round in the early morn
ing with these bags, after the Und
ing of similar articles, containing
fowls, at Thomas Square is suspi
cions. More so, considering that
some of the chickens which were
found belonged to F. S. Dodge, sur
veyor, whose name is on one of the
bags.

small fellow, who .was under the in
fluence of liquor, jumped on the
olllcer and in an ensuing scuttle the
otlicer's leg was bitten. Another
olllcer arriving on the scene, the
obstreporous Jap was taken to the
Police Station. At the station t.vo
charges were entered against him,
