Children of Stillwater, Minn., Muat
Leavo the Streets at 0 p. m.
Tho famous jroier ordinance,
providing that all children under 10
years r.f ago shall leave tho strolls
at 9 o'clock, when curfew rings, has
gone into fleet at Stillwater, Minn.,
ami is rigidly enforced.
Any hilil found on the street
after!) o'clock N c inpelled to uivn a
good account of linn- If, aixl if not
tho child is taken either home or t
tho city j dl, and parents notified
that they must aid hi enforcing the
ordinance- thereafter. Somo hci)s
are o venturesome that they remain
out after the bell ha tolled jiiht for
the purpose of tantalizing tho olli
ceis, but seoral of them bao come
to grief and to the lockup. The
ordinance haopernted very satisfic
torily in thu city thin far, and that
other cities throughout the state
can roe the good results of the move
ment is demonstrated by the uiitn
ber of applications received from
everywhere for copies of thu ordin
ance and for short hltetchus of how
it operates,

PATENTED UNDER THE LAW8 OF THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS.
Mr. Ji'hn A. Kcott, Mannger of thu Hilo Sugar Cniuny, gics tho follow
ing wonderful record of tho working of tho NATIONAL CANE SHRED

" During the past wgck tho Hilo StiRiir Company's mill exceeded any of
its former records by closing thu 125 hours grinding with nn output of 300

"Tho three roller mill being 20 in. by 6-1 in. anil the two roller mill .10 in.
by 60 in. '1 he first mill doing this amount of work in an efficient manner
and with great ease, compared with work on whole cane, owing to thorough
preparation of the cane by thu National Cauo Shredder, tecently erected by

"And by its use tho extraction bus been increased from 3 percent to 5 per
cent on all kinds of cuiiu, and in somu cacs 80 percent has been reached;
tho average being 75 to 78 percent, according to quillity.
" 1 continue to iinil the niegaes from shredded cauu better fuel than from

"'JliosliH'ddurliasbccn working day and night for scen montliB nnd has ,'
given mu entire satisfaction, having shredilid during that timu about seventy'
