Editok Bulletin: Thoro ware
in your pupor last night references
to two matters in the district
which wiib under my charge to
which 1 would like to reply.
First As to that of tho removal
of rubbish from Punchbowl
stroet. It had boon placed on tho
street, by the request of tho nub
maiioctor, where it was seen by a
paid officer of the Board who
ordered its removal. Mr. Ku not
having a wagon at his disposal
sent a Chinaman with a crt, and
the poople paid this man, report
ing Biimo to tho inspector on his
uoxt round. The matter was re
ferred to tho Board tiat night
(Saturday), and the following
morning the money was refunded
to the parties who had paid.
Second As to tho sanitary con
dition of Kawaiahao Seminary.
It may bo safely said that it
would bo hard to find a placo
nhero the genoral condition of
things was better. Tbo promises
have been carefully examined,
nnd found to be in first class order.
In regard to the spocial matter to
whioh you rofer, the fact is that a
wagon passing over the drain pipe
had broken one of tho joints, and
it was not known at the timo. As
so.in as tho pipe was used again,
tho leak was disc weied and tho
trouble remedied. I cm sayjfrom
personal knowledge derived from
tin inspection of the laundry and
bath rooms only a few days ago
that nil was scrupulou'-lj clean,
and freo from any bineli. us could
not havo been the cas- if tho con
dition repotted by yovr infor
mant was corroct.
