UNTIL FURTHLK NOTICE.
WALL, NICHOLS CO., Ltd.
San Francisco, Dec. 12. The Call to
day says: The many rumors whlcn
have gained wide credence that a con
test would bo made against Kobert W.
Wilcox, the Hawaiian delegate-cloct,
taking bis seat In Congress havo been
verified In the last few da a, and It
now appears that the prime mover In
the proposed contest against Wilcox Is
no less an person than tils divorced
wife, the I'rluciss (Jlna (.'olonna So
brero de Stagllono.
Wilcox soon after Ills urrlval In thU
city ridiculed the Idea that any opposi
tion would be made to his taking I'll;
seat In Congress, and declared that his
enemies In the Hawaiian Islands had
simply tramped up a case In accusing
mm or uigamy, anu inai nis uirorcii
wife, who Is In Italy, had and still has
the kindliest feelings towards him.
In n letter to a lady who resides In
the southern part ot the State the Prl.i
cess Collonna recently wrote, that sho
contemplated a visit, to America In the
near future, and then Bays: "I can nev
er forglvo the man who ruined my
young life and who deceived me Into
marrying him by wicked and false stor
ies as to our future homo In Hawaii
The post of honor to which ho usplrcs
In the Congress of America shall never
bo his, If I can stop it. and for that rea
son I shall soon visit your country."
Judging by the action which Con
gress took In the case ot Urlgham Ron
erts of Utah, who was not allowed to
take his Beat In the national legisla
ture, there seems to bo little chance
of Wilcox ever being sworn In as a
member of Congress lr his divorced
wlfo carries out her plans to oppone
him. Roberts was rejected by Con
gress, 'who found him 'guilty of con
tracting bigamous marriage, and Wil
cox's case Is Identical with that ot
Tho white population of the Hawr
llan Islands Is determined that Wilcox
shall not roprescnt their Interest In
Congress, nnd "every effort Is being
made to prevent him doing so. Thcro
can bo little doubt as to the action Con
gress will tako In the contest, for tha
caso of Urlgham Roberts forms a pre
cedent which Is not likely to be set
