ing at- 8 o'clock this morning and the
burden of the song there sung wns that
the plantations bad been extremely
backward In coming forward to sup
port the Hoard In the matter of secur
ing from the Azores or elsewhere the
1000 agricultural families which tho

chairman of the Hoard, A. U C. Atkln

Tho opinion was expressed by Com
missioner J. 1'. Cooke that some of the
sugar planters had been taking advant
age of the Hoard and that It was high
time that plantations, other than the
few which had made promises In re
gard to giving land to the prospective
rctllers. came forward and gave somo
kind of a guarantee of willingness to
tlo the right thing.
There was much talk of this kind
and the meeting ended with no definite
Idea except that the plantation should
bo aroused to tho necessity and Im
portance of getting Into line.
Present at the meeting were Com
missioners J. 1'. Cooke. K. D. Tenner,
John Cardcn and J. P. Craig and As
sistant Secretary Clarence Crabbe and
representatives of tho press.
Crabbe read the minutes of the last
meeting, after which Cooko announced
that ho had received a couplo of letters
I from Mr. Atkinson. The letters were
1 handed to Mr. Crabbe to be read to
tho Hoard. There were somo things
contained therein that members of the
Hoard requested tho members of the
press not to publish at this time, not
that the mattora amounted to anything
as far as Importance went but that they
were embryonic and publicity might
Inlerfero with successful consumma
tion of detail.
Atkinson In his letters started In by
confirming cablegrams ho had sent the
Hoard hero and which uavo already ap
peared In substance In tho local news
papers. Referring to tho fact that
Ilutehlngson, for whom Atkinson
cabled to go on and help him, had snld
that ho could not go at this tlmo nnd
that he, Ilutehlngson, considered It un
necessary that a man should go on at
this time, Atkinson declared that ho

9500,000 for tho construction and
equipment of ditches, irrigation works,
reservoirs and other property of tho
ditch company,
Thcso bonds are payable In thirty
years and nro redeemable In ten
years. .
They are practically all provided for
with tho Harvey Mill Company, tho
Samuel Parker Interests and a San
Francisco syndicate.
The capital stock of the company Is
J500.000, all subscribed and paid In.
The company has the privilege of In
creasing capitalization to ono million
dollars.
Tho work on tho ditch Is making
splendid progress and there Is every
assurance that tho work will bo com
pleted and tho water started, as ac
cording to tho company's agreement

tho guilty men, Yco Sun Chun, a Ko
rean, was sentenced to eighteen
months In Oahu prison In tho Pollco
Court this morning. Ho had only been
out of Jail two weeks. Six suits of
stolen clothes woro found among his
fiffects. Also hair brushes and many
other articles.
On a number of occasions money has
been taken when it could bo found.

harbor terminal franchises to the Western Pacific Railway. This has been
fought by the Southern Pacific Interests.

"I am unable to tell you definitely

that thoy will be opened as homesteads
or be disposed of at a very cheap price.
It Is probable that tho Idea Is that the

endeavor to reach tho shoro for the

rough that the boat became unmanage
able and was" dashed against the rocks
and demolished. The two narrowly es
caped with their lives. A sampan la
worth from $250 to f 400, according to
Its size.
The two Japanese who started out
fishing last Wednesday wcro found by
the rescue party In tho larger sampan,
which started out Friday to search for
them. When the storm came up thoy
were blown Into Walalae bay near Ko
ko Head and remained there until the
searching party discovered them. All
returned last night In a joyous mood.
Tho eight fishermen who started out to
bunt for the supposed lost pair sailed
about for three days befofo they finally
encountered their missing fellow w oriel
men.
