HONOLULU, T. H., October 1, 1906.
OENERAL SUMMARY.
The total rainfall for the week wae very lloht on all the Islands.
The greatest amount reported at any station was ,45 Inch on Hawaii,
.32 Inch on Maul, .G8 Inch on Oahu, .86 Inch on Kauai, and .SO Inch on
Molokal. All stations, on Hawaii,. Oahu, Kauai, and Molokal report
less rainfall than during the preceding week, excepting 4,20 inch at
Honokaa, Hawaii, H.03 Inch at Honolulu, and 4-07 at Koloa, Kauai. In
tho Walluku district of Maul the amount of ralnKII was the same, or
slightly more than last week, and less to tho eastward of the Wajluku
district. The greatest deficiencies, ranging from LOG to 2.14 Inches,
were reported from the southwestern portion of the Kona district of
Hawaii, and the Koolau district of Maul.
The mean temperatures for tho week wero higher than those of the
preceding one at all stations, excepting thoco In the eastern portion of
the Puna district, and at Paaullo, and Valmea, Hawaii, and Walawa,
Oahu, whero they wero from .2" to 1.8 lower, nnd Maknwell, Kauai,
where It was the same. In the northern portion of the Kohala, eastern
portion of the Hllo, and tho southwestern portion of the Kona districts
of Hawaii, the Koolau, and Hamakuapoko dlstrictc, of Maul, In south,
eastern Molokal, In east central Kauai, and at Honolulu, and Walanae,
Oahu, the changes ranged from f1-0" to 2.0.
.The following table shows tho weekly averages of temperature and
rainfall for the principal Islands and for the Group:

At the local office of the U, 8, Weather Bureau In Honolulu, the
maximum temperature was 85', minimum 72', and mean 79.3 1.4"
above tho normal for the week, and 1.0' higher than, that of the pre.
ceding week, Measureablo rainfall occurred on the last two days, and
amounted to .13 Inch, .03 inch more than last week's, and .15 Inch
less than the normal. The mean cloudiness was 410; average rela
tive humidity, 66, and the prevailing direction of wind was north
east, with an average hourly velocity of 7.7 miles.
