Shortly after tho raid on tho Ah
Kwal house on Sunday cenlng, Detec
tive Mcdelros sent two men In plain
clothes to look out for nny other game
that might be running. It appears that
the Instructions were misunderstood,
and ono of the men wont to tho Ah
Kwal block, and stationed himself out
side. A Chinaman who lives In the
building claims that this watclfraan
prevented him from entering the
houso, and that subsequently the
vatchorwent Into tho Ah Kwal block.
Shortly afterwards a pair of shoes
wcro missed. No complaint had been
made nt tho police station up till noon,
ind no one seems to know aa thing

With tho exception of four cases, tho
whole lengthy calendar at the Police
Court this morning had to deal with
gambling offenses. Tho Ah k-wni

wero up before Judge Andrade, Attor

cused, and Is putting up a strenuous
fight on his clients' behalf. Thei whole
morning was taken up with the cases,

large delegation from the local Mor
mon churches was present and loaded

The Alameda carries 1400 tons of
general cargo, consisting of 1661
bags of rice, 3760 bunches of ba
nanas, 9413 bags of sugar, 1194
bundles of hides, C44 bags of coffee,
5760 cases of canned pines, and 299
caBes of fresh pines.

ment. Ho was a staunch Itcpubllcan

He left children, who arrived from
