Superintendent Pdpo expected nt

now thinks thut this- number will full

to bo received.
Should tho number run much over
this flguro then thn requirements will
bnvn to bo lalsed no as to keep the
total around two hundred.
In 'dlscussihg tho work of the

this morning 'Superintendent Pone
Stated that'wltlin tho next few weeks
ho would prepare a report on tho
work In till Its brunches to submit to
povruor Fredr upon his return on
July 18. ' ' '
This report will lay' special stress
on tho' Industrial 'work which hns
been done ns tills branch lmi In
creased luigely dilring tho lust year
In both tho boys' nnd' girls' depart
ments. ' '
Frhin tho bovn esnorlnllv linn n
large Income been reeehed during
tho year, tho receipts' from Kuliuku
plantation 'alono for' 'May amounting
to over 'eight hundred dollars for
w6rk done on tho plantatl6n by boys
In the' Industrial school.
These boys are divided Into threo
classes, receiving senty-llve, llfty
and thirty-live cents ench dully nnd
thoy are tuken to thn plantation by
classes. It Is thosW lays who linvo
turned In nn income lor one month
of nearly a thousand dollars, half of
Which goes to theln nnd half to thn
school department. In addition to
learning Improved methods of agri
culture by this work tho youngsters
also learn habits of thrift nnd steady
work which is as important.
Within tho next year tho boys'
school at Lahatnaluna, Maul, will de
rive an Income of about ISOOO from
the cane crop planted upon land be
longing to the school and worked by
the boys there, numbering 121, with
out any outside assistance.
In connection with the Lahalnaluna
school Superintendent Pope wishes to
announce that the hend of that insti
tution desires to hear from all grad
uates of tho school In legnrd to it
during the time they were students
there. Tho reason for this Is that n
largo number of the records were lost
In the nro a few years ago and tho
only way to get them In shapo again
will uo from Information furnished
by former students. "

In August It Is hoped that the salaries
of many of the teachers now receiv
ing less than thirty dollars a month
can be Increased by their pusslng ex

get certificates.
The starting salary for certificated
teachers Is fifty dollars a month und
If thoso who do not now hold certif
