SATURDAY, DECEMBER 11, 1948 Omega Psi Phi Conclave Columbus, Ohio The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity 35th Annual Grand Conclave, meeting here be ginning December 27, will plot new goals for its 1949 National Social Action Program and is expected to take a strong stand on the issues of Civil Rights,«and Federal housing for low income families. During the past year 195 active chapters of the fraternity, located in 38 states and Canada, have work ed on the National Social Action program in its several spheres, in cluding: Health and Housing: Em ployment and Social Security; Edu cation and Cultural Relations; Law and Legislation and the fraternity’s annual Achievement Week Celebra tion. Approximately six hundred dele gates and visitors from these chap ters will bring reports on progress made during 1948 and plan an even more extensive program. Dr. Harry T. Penn, the Grand Basileus in a pre-conclave state ment said, “we expect this to be one of the most Important meetings ever held in the history of the fra ternity. The year 1948 has proved that fraternities must take a new role in facing the challenges of a new day.” The conclave for the first day will feature meetings of the Su preme Council, important policy making committees and a special round table discussion of under graduate member s of the fraternity. Later that afternoon the national officers will present their annual reports. The Holtons are daugh ter and son-in-law of Mr. Mrs. Emily Clark of Nassau, Ba hamas, sister of Mr. Eric Clark, is spending a six months vacation in Miami. While here she is the guest of her niece Mrs. Vera Wilson. • Mrs. Minnie Johnson, 1951 NW sth place, was taken ill this week. Friends hope for her early recovery. Friends are sorry to learn of the illness of Mrs. Clora Pearsall, prin cipal of Dunbar Elementary School. They are further pleased to know that she is convalescing. Miss Zilpha Bain, 1730 NW 3rd avenue, who has been ill for a week is improving. The Rev. Mr. John Jarrett who has been ill is making splendid improve ment and is able to get about. scheduled for the Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts.
