Social Science News The Social Science Club under the capable leadership of Miss Marie Roberts is destined to do great things. Already the club has re ceived a report of the National Social Studies Convention. Mrs. W. Rhetta who was the club’s delegate to the Chicago convention made the report. This club composed of all the social studies teachers in Dade County’s high schools is planning a number of informative programs for the coming year. Some of the 1 programs will include speakers, ! movies and discussions of problems pertinent to our schools and com munities. The "New Look” is just a change in dress from high degree to lower; but a high degree of Christian living is more valuable to the owner. 2. Looking fine from outward ap pearance is not to be despised, but greater still are Christian virtues which men should fully realize. 3. Too long has youth in general been following flashy outward looks and left undone the fine les sons that follow men of character and good boks. 4. Silver and gold have always had a charming old and new look to men bent on ill-gotten gains, though having to bear the name of a crook. 5. When, for this alone, men strive to get ahead, it all simply means 'in the end a pretty hard bed. 6. Looks, are but a passing plea sure, but Christian virtues are an eternal treasure. 7. It was the Adamic sin that caused men to look on outward ap pearances from the start, while God has always looked upon the heart. 8. And now, the way to look dif ferent in days like these, is always to do right, and God only, please. 9. Clothes will get men by here on the earth, but to get where God is, one must have a new birth. 10. The real "New Look” will al ways reflect God’s personality as men learn to practice real Christi anity. 11. The Prophet Jeremiah who spoke in another day seemed dis turbed about "New Looks”, for we still hear him say, "Thus saith the Lord, stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall rest for your souls.’.’ But they said, we will not walk therein. 12. This proves old Jeremiah to be right; that we need no "New Look”, but a proper sight and when men begin to see alike with Him who supplies all their need, then there will be no more wars, avarice and greed. Jenkins, Jr., spent the Christmas holiday in this city visit ing his sister Miss Lula Jenkins of the Liberty Square housing project. Oscar is a junior at Stanton High School in Jacksonville.
