The ordinance adopted by the city commission bans wearing of masks and burning of crosses on public or private property. City clerk Jerome Lincoln said the' law was modelled on one passed about two months ago by Miami Beach. Bartow' also recently enacted an ordinance based on the Miami Beach anti-klan action. i Robbery Pair Gets 12 Years A man and a woman who on the night of July 11 beat and robbed a 78-year-old grocer in South Alla pattah Gardens near Homestead, have been sentenced to the penti tentiary for a total of 12 years. They are Robert T. Williams and Lorene Davis. Williams was sen tenced by Criminal Court Judge Ben C. Willard to five years for armed robbery and three years for breaking and entering, and the wo man was sentenced to three years for armed robbery and one for break ing and entering. According to Prosecuting Attor ney Emmett Kehoe the two went in to the grocery of William E. Miller late in the evening, told him they had run out of gas and asked him to drive them in his car to the near est gas station. On the way they beat him and threw him out of the car. Then they returned to the store and stole several pistols. All-Negro Radio Station Sabotaged BIRMINGHAM, Ala. A $5,000 steel tower erected for a new r all- Negro radio station here was a mas 3 of twisted wreckage Sunday. Police said a cable supporting the 210-foot tower had been sawed through. J. Ed. Reynolds, president of the Magic City Broadcasting Co., which will operate the station, WEDR said a new tower has been ordered. Help The Scouts Woman Dies Os Stab Wounds Essie Mae Johnson, 65-year-old laundry worker, died in Jackson Me morial hospital Tuesday six hours after she was admitted with six stab wounds. Gertrude Chaney, 36 of the same address, was held by police pending an inquest.
