Bill of Rights Party Keynoted With Exhibit In Library WASHINGTON (ANP) The 158th anniversary of the final enact ment of the Bill of Rights into the Constitution of the United States ■was commemorated on* Dec. 15 by an exhibit placed in the Rare Book room of the Congressional library. This exhibition on the evolution of the significant event in the history of the Amercan people includes rar e newspapers, broadsides, pam phlets and books from t he Library’s collection. • The display Illustrating the evolu tion of the Bill of Rights from poli tlcal theory through the long pro* cess of legislative dobato and public discussion until its final incorpora tion n the Constitution, will remain In public view until Jan. 2, 1950. Three of the six documents recent ly lent to the exhibition on the Uni versal Declaration of Human Rights by tho library, for display under the auspices of UNESCO at Paris, are also on display near the Shrine. Woman Accuses Negro Os Murder, Gets 14 Yrs. CHICAGO (AXPJ Mrs. Doro thy Scoych, 22*year*old white woman who had accused a Xegro Os slaying her six-day old baby last August 12 and nearly touched off a race riot on Chicago’s Southside, was found guilty of murder in criminal court here last week and to 13 years in prison. The woman had told police in her first account of the slaying, that a Negro prowler came into her home, took her watch and choked her baby to death with a diaper. Break Ground For YWCA In Atlanta ATLANTA (ANP) A group of 500 citizens braved foggy and murky weather last week to see Mrs. George A Towns break ground for a new $147,000 home for the Phyllis Wheatley branch. This ground-breaking program cli maxed 10 years of effort to have the new institution built. Plans for the new home were made in 1039, funds were collected by 1944, but war time building restrictions pre vented further action. Mrs. Towns 1 was given the honor of breaking ground because of her work as chairman of the board of managers. Little Dorothy Rose pre sented the spade to her. N..1.*1- (ANP) Mem bers of t he student council of the Rutgers Law school last week voted 15-14 to ask for the end of dlscrlmi- 1 nation In the.member.shi)> o f nil fra- Lunceford Widow Wins SIO,OOO Suit NEW' YORK (ANPi Mrs. Jim mie Lunceford, widow of t he late bandleader, last week won a court decision in an appeals court that will net her at least SIO,OOO from the conductor of the present Lunce ford band. Pianist Eddie Wilcox who took over t he band when Lunceford died was ordered to pay Mrs. Lunceford $1,759 originally award ed her by City court plus $5,000 a year beginning in 1948. The award was based on a con tract signed bewteen the widow and Wilcox for the use of the Lunceford name for the band. That contract signed after the bandlead er's death called for Mrs. Lunceford to receive SSO a week the first six months, $75 a week for t he next six, $5,000 a year for the next two years, and $7,500 a year from then on. The court ruled that this con tract was binding on both parties.
