“Be Kind to Animals” week
was observed May 6-12. Beauti
ful-posters on the treatment of
animals were made by pupils
from each classroom and dis
nlayed in the teachers’ lounge.
Madames Gussie Dobbs and
Inez Davis were judges. Four pos
ters were selected as being out
standing from these teachers
classroom: Madames Greer, Cher
rv, Ruff and Miss Mattie Gibson.
Many praises to Mrs. Pearl Pat
tenrson, chairman, who worked so
hard to make this project a suc
cessful one. The week was cli
maxed by a “Be Kind to Animals’*
Drogram Friday by the second
graders. Mrs. Grace Bradley
served as the mistress of cere
monies.
The faculty misses Mrs. Lea
tha Jackson, secretary, who was
called to Tamra last Tuesday be
cause of the illness of her mother.
We wish for her mother a speedy
recovery.
The first grade teacher gave a
Mother’s Tea for all of those
mothers who have children en
tering school for the first time
next fall. Helpful information
was given to each mother on the
preparation of their child for
school next fall. Our principal
gardeners and 'caretakers. Reg
istrations will be taken through
May 31st.

Seniors
Gamma Zeta Omega chapter of
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will
entertain all Dade County high
school seniors on Sunday, May
20, with an “Afternoon Tea.”
This affair will be held on the
lawn at Soror Thena Crowder’s
home. Sorors are planning to
make this affair a memorable
occasion for all seniors in atten
dance.
It is the hope of the sorority
that the interest shown by the
attendance of the seniors will re

charge, will be the celebrant.
The Sacred Heart Guild of the
Church of the Incarnation, branch
of the Women’s Auxiliary, is
having its first spring ingather
ing Sunday. They will receive
their corporate communion at the
11 a.m. Mass, and at that time
will present their united thank
offering. All members and wo
men of the church are urged to
come out and support this effort.
At four o’clock Sunday after
noon in the community auditori
um the Sacred Heart Guild is
sponsoring a program and tea.
Mrs. Gladstone Rodgers from
Holy Cross Episcopal Church will
be the guest.
Speaker for the day is Mrs.
Eunice Nelson, custodian of the
United Thank offerings. Mrs.
Olive B. Taylor is president of
