Young, Sr., publisher of the Norfolk Journal and Guide, has accepted appoint ment as national co-chairman of the 1952 campaign of the United Negro College Fund, it was an nounced this week by Dr. F. D. Patterson, president of Tuskegee Institute and founder and presi dent of the fund. Mr. Young, a member of the organization’s National Council since it was founded in 1944 will serve with C. D. Jackson, publish er of Fortune magazine, in di recting the Fund’s annual nation wide appeal. The United Negro College fund seeks to raise mon ey each year to support the op erational budgets of 32 private colleges and universities located mainly in the south. A member of President Roose velt’s Committee on Fair Em ployment Practices in 1943, Mr. Young has long been interested in welfare and eduoatkmal activi ties both on a national scale and in his home town of Norfolk, Va. He attended St. Augustine’s Col lege, a member school of the fund and is a trustee of Howard Uni versity and Hampton Institute. In 1948 and 1949 Mr. Young was co-chairman of the Virginia state-wide campaign of the fund ancTfor many years has been ac tive in local appeals for the fund in Norfolk. Such famous schools as Hampton and Tuskegee Insti tutes. Lincoln University, Atlan ta University and Bethune-Cook man College are helped by the United Negro College Fund’s an nual appeal. Bartlett, in an unconscious condition, was flown from Ar thur’s Town. Cat Island, to Nas sau. He regained consciousness, but is suffering from a mild stroke and very high blood pres sure. Mrs. Frances Francis, Worthy Matron of Eureka Grand Lodge. New York, returned to the United States on February 17, after vis iting chapters at Eleuthera and in New Providence. Inspector Nottage of the Crim inal Investigation Department, has been recommended by the Governor and his advisers to take training courses in that field this summer in the United Kingdom. The Government will bear the expenses. Mr. Wilmot Armbrister, 49, died at Prospect Hospital on Feb. 17, after a short illness. He is survived by his wife, five daugh ters, two sons, father, two sisters, and four brothers. That Mr. Armbrister was well I known and highly respected in 1 the community was evidenced by the large attendance at his funer al services at the St. Agnes Church. His Lordship the Bishop of Nassau and Rev. Canon M. E. Cooper offciated at the Church, and at the grave by Rev. J. E. Leslie, priest in charge of St. Annes, Fox Hill, of which Mr. Armbrister was organist for many years. High tribute was paid to him for his devotion to duty. Ezekiel Taylor died suddenly at his home in Wellington St. on February 18. The cause of death was not determined. He was fifty years old. Mrs. Julia Bethel, 76, died at her home in Mackey St. on Feb ruary 21 after having been ill for four years. She was a native of Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera, and is survived by three daugh ters; Mrs. Eliza Farrington, Mrs. Sybil Bartlett and Miss Florie Bethel. Mrs. Cassandra Hanna died at her home in Wulff Road, Palm Beach ave., on Feb. 20. She is survived by her husband, Ber tram Hanna; her mother, Ger trude Kemp;' a sister, three broth ers, three aunts and two uncles. Funeral services were held at bethel Church, Rev. H. W.
