BROOKS TWO CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE MURDR Two men were charged with first degree murder, Wednesday, in warrants issued by Justice of the Peace Francis J. Christie. Thesnen are Frank Butler, 21, and John Harris 26, of 561 NW 15th st., and were accused of killing Charles Willhubley, 23, of West Palm Beach. Homicide Detective Lt. Ches ter Eldredge said that Willhubley, who was identified through fin gerprints apparently was knocked to the pavement by Butler and Harris during a fracas on NW 14th at near 3rd ave, late Tuesday Bight. The Bishop’s Council of the Methodist Church will hold its vinter meeting at the Ebenezer dethodist Church, Miami, March 4 0-12. The entertaining bishop is J. W. E. Bowen, resident bishop )f the Atlantic Coast Area. The 1 following bishops are to be present: Bishop Robert N. Brooks, New Drleans area; Bishop Edgar A. c.ove, Baltimore area; and Bishop Matthew W. Clair Jr., St. Louis area. Retired bishops who wii! at tend are: Bishop R. E. Jones, Gulfside, Miss.; Bishop A. P. Shaw, Balti more, Md. and Bishop E. W. Kelly, Detroit, Mich. The business session will open Tuesday morning, March 10 at 9 o’clock. The field men and gen eral officers throughout the Cen tral Jurisdiction are expected to be in attendance. ONE SUSPECT SHOT, ANOTHER ESCAPES AFTER HOLDUP TRY Two men attempted to holdup and rob George Cheotis, white, bartender at the Bth Street Bar, 450 NW Bth st., shortly after he closed the bar late Monday night • but were frustrated in their plans as Cheotis shot it out with them. Officers John Westmorelar.d and Charles Thomas of the police force, arrested Johnny Lee Mar shal), 19, of 1835 NW First court, only two blocks away from the scene. Marshall was shot in the right hip and in the bottom of his left foot. Eye witnesses at the scene said the two men approached Cheotis -vith guns drawn, as he closed the door and stepped outside. Cheotis drew his gun and advanced on ne two. The men and Cheotis each lined at least five Shots at close range. Cheotis was not in jured. The second suspect got away. ELDERLY WOMAN GUILTY OF MANSLAUGHTER Theresa Roberson, an elderly woman, who was charged with the l fatal stabbing of Mary Lee Tur ner, was found guilty of man slaughter Tuesday by a Circuit * Court jury in Judge Marshall C. Wiseheart’s court. Judge Wise heart said he will pass sentence after an investigation by proba tion officials. Three men and three women, all riding in the sedan on their way to work as farm laborers drowned as the truck knocked the car into a deep canal beside the road. The accident occured at 6r6T when the sedan slowed to turn off the highway into the farm where the victims worked. Willie C. He was held on a charge of following a motor vehicle too closely, j All the bodies were recovered and Peaee Justice W. E. Wilcox Patrolman Edward E. Fritz, Jr., who was killed while attempting to arrest three men accused of robbing the Benner Box Co. The money was raised at a recent benefit sponsored by the Elks, under the direction of Klllens, PRICE: TEN CENTS of Delray Beach began an inves tigation. The victims who lived at quar ters in Pompano Beach were re porting for work at tne time of the accident. The dead were identified as John Allen of Pompano, appar ently the driver of the sedan; Paul Gay of Pompano, owner of the car; John Prince of Gholson. Miss.; Lonnie Wiggs. Janie Bell Stephen and Hattie McDonald, all of Pompano. A seventh passenger in the ear. Percy Hawkins, swam to safety. He was not seriously hurt.
