Elks Grand Daughter Ruler Visits Miami On last Saturday Mrs. Nettie Carter Jackson, grand daughter ruler of the IBPOEW, stopped in MLmi long enough to have a brief visit with her grand deputy, Dt. Marie White, Dt. Ruler Mae Woods Tucker, Dt. Ruler Ellen Taylor and Dt. Ruler Laura O’Brien of Homestead. A large delegation from Greater Miami, Liberty and Oversea Temples met her train. Mrs. Jack son was accompanied by the grand treasurer Dt. Pearl Brown of Baltimore. Dt. Grace Bryant of Detroit and her husband, Mr. Charles W. Jackson who is the grand traveling deputy of the world. These grand temple offi cers were presented with orchids and white and purple carnations from Greater Miami Temple. A large souvenir key was presented by Dt. Mae Woods Tucker. Dt. Tucker said “This key will un lock the door of the South Flori da Temples.” Dt. deputy Marie White ar ranged a tour which took the party to the Paradise hotel where orange juice was served. Dt Amelia Shavers served as secre tary to the gnand daughter ruler. The beautiful home of Dt. Lil lian Smith in Coconut Grove wps included in the tour. Cocktails and fried chicken were served by Dt. Smith. The motorcade led oy Dt. Sarah Smalley, with Dt Se rena Green, Dt. Arlene Miller, Dt Essie Mae Collins of Home steal and many other cars in line sped to the airport where the party planned to spend a week m beautiful Nassau. Carver Ranches And Community News By Mrs. K. Strachan Monday, March 16 will Degin a week of programs m Gospel songs and sermons at Mt. Zion AME Church. We are liking forward to the climax of the building drive which is Sunday, March 22. To begin our weekly meetings Ward Chapel from Hal landale will render service on Monday night, the Rev- H - Benson, pastor. On Wednesday night St. James from Liberty City will be here, and every night will be food for thought for everyone. Visiting churches will be in charge of the meeting. On Sunday the Missionary sis ters will have charge throughout the day. Mother Rose Collier and Mother Viola Clark plan an en joyable program for everyone. Our d»ve ends Sunday night, so try not to miss all of these meet ings if any. You will rejoice to know that some day there will be a Greater Mt. Zion in Carver Ranches.
