Magistrate Thompson holds the position of Stipen diary and Circuit Magistrate of the Bahamas, having enjoyed a successful law practice for the past 10 years. During this time he has been privileged to serve as asst. Attorney General of the Bahamas and was elevated to the Bench 14 months ago. The Nassauvians have been enjoying the hospitality of several Miami friends during their brief virit The couple enjoyed sight-seeing tours of beautiful Miami Beach. They were dinner guests and special guests of intimate friends on several occasions. Magistrate Thomp son was guest speaker on WMBM’s “The People Speak” radio broadcast last Saturday with his charming wife, an invited guest of the program. A former vice council for the Republic of Haiti for nine years in Nassau, His Worship was honored guest in Municipal Judge John D. Johnson’s Court during the. week and had nothing short of high praises for the .iudtfe. Among those sharing in hospitality roles during the Thompsons visit were Atty. and Mrs. G. E. Graves, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. North, Mr. and Mrs Stanley Sweeting, Gilbert Styles, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Johnson, Elliott J. Pieze and Mr. and Mrs. Garth C. Reeves. Personal Mention ... Mrs. Bertha K. Lewis was hos tess to the Phyllis Wheatley Club Monday evening, May 28. Quite an enjoyable evening was spent. Following the regular routine of business a delicious dinner was served. At the close of the meet ing Mrs. Lewis (was thanked Jor her hospitality. Mrs. Matilda Wall of 1575 NW 07th st., left by Delta Air Lines on Thursday to attend the grad uation of her daughter, Miss Carolyn Hall in Saginaw, Mich. Rev. and Mrs. A. H. Ferguson returned to Miami last week after spending five weeks in the North. They attended the an nual conference of the AME Zion Church in Pittsburgh, Pa., and visited relatives and friends in New York City during their trip. Christian Scientists Say The World Needs Christianity Nothin* but Christ's Christi anity can supply the answer to the tremendously challenging problems facing humanity, The Christian Srience Board of Di rectors said this week; “The world needs the Science cf Christianity as it has never needed it before,” the directors declared in a special statement. Thousands of Christian Scien tists from many parts of the world heard the directors' mes sage at the Annual Meeting of the Mother Church. The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Mass. Taking note of the significant changes taking place in the world, the directors said: “With the breaking of the barriers of time and space the mental out look of men stands out in increas ingly sharp relief, revealing an unprecedented clashing of ideol ogies. “Materia medica is more and more tracing physical effects to mental causes. The churches are reaching out for spiritual heal ing.” Application of the healing power of the Christ, Truth, de mands individual consecration, the directors emphasized. “We need to retain the spirit of the sturdy pioneer, to guard against apathy, superficially, and the intoxication of ease in mat ter,” they stated. Their message, read by* Theo dore Wallach, retiring First Read of the Mother Church, highlighted a session at which progress as reported on the far-flung activi ties of the denomination which now has branches in some 48 countries. The audience filled three aud itoriums in the Mother Church edifices as well as a nearby theater. The domed edifice is the Eytension, dedicated in 1906. Adjoining it, with chime tower, is the orginal edifice, dedicated in 1895. , The Christian Science Church was founded by Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered Science textbook, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” in 1875. Voter Registration Rooks Open Again Voter registration books re opened Monday in the office of Carl Holmer Jr., supervisor of registration, on the 11th floor of the Dade County courthouse. Dade countains immediately started qualifying for the No vember election. The books have been closed since 30 days before the first pri mary, May 8.
