Father-Daughter Combo Visit ALFRED BAIN and his charming daughter, Rose Marie, return home recently for a 12-day visit with relatives and friends. Bain, former Miamian and popular social figure, had been living in Jamai ca, Long Island, N.Y. for the past 10 years. Rose Marie has been liv ing with her dad and attending the New York schools since 1951. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Moss, 1052 NW 65th at., and daughter of Mrs. Florence Moss-Bain. The visiting pair left last Friday on a return trip to Jamaica. Superior Rating For BTW Chorus ' IT IS QUITE INTERESTING to note that the Booker Taiifero Washington high school chorus, under the direction of Mrs. Leila Roberts-Williams, was the only school choral group to receive a superior rating in both sight-reading and choral performance dur ing the county-wide music clinic held at the Washington auditorium this year. • * Georgians Visit Floridians • MR. AND MRS. ROBERT INGRAM of Savannah, Ga. were the weekend houseguests of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Powell of Liberty City. The duo was entertained with a family picnic at Virginia Beach on last Friday, with a breakfast in Richmond Heights on Saturday morn ing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ivory J. Reid. Sight-ceeing tours on Saturday afternoon climaxed the day's hectic activities. Ingram is the grandson of the late Dr. A. P. Holly, and a first cousin to Mrs. Powell and Ivory Reid. The visitors left the city with expressions of having had a wonderful stay in the Magic City. Soul Clinic Minister to Preach “MAN, A CAPTIVE OF SATAN”, will be the subject of a iries segae to be delivered by Rev. Irvine Robinson, soul clinic missionary, Sunday morning at Peaceful Zion Baptist Church, cor. NW 24th ave. at 68th st. Rev. Robinson, a resident of Belize, British Honduras, has delivered messages at several Miami churches, including Central Church of the Nazarene, Church of the Open Bible, The Gospel Hall, with talks at Mt. Zion Baptist, Antiooh Baptist and others in both white and colored neighborhoods. KJ e *• presently operating an eatery In Jackson ville, and expresses the success of his new venture. *Y 9 Development Program Tonight THE FIRST MEETING of the Citizens Advisory Committee will be held tonight (Friday) at 8 o’clock. The setting is for Saint John Baptist Church, 1328 NW 3rd ave., according to the Rev. Thedford Johnson, chairman of the committee. The Citizens Advisory Commit tee consists of leading citizens of the community. This group will sponsor the development program, suggest a suitable site, and devel op plans for adequate building and recreational facilities. The agenda of the dinner-meeting will consist of a film depicting the total needs of the Greater Miami YMCA and brief remarks by the president of the Miami YMCA. A “question and answer period” regarding the development program will also be a part of the program. Rev. H. E. S. Reeves has been named as honorary chairman, and Mrs. Susan Harris, women’s auxiliary chairman. Former Miami Pise Jockeys Visit JACK (JOCKEY JACK) GIBBON and Ed Cook, two former WMBM disc jockeys, are back in Miami but not to stay. They’re here on vacation. The deejays, who are two of the best in the busi ness, left Tuesday on an extended trip to Nassau, where both are v-e-r-r-r-y popular figures. Gibson Is presently wowing em up In Atlanta over station WERD, while Cook bowls 'em over In Louis ville via station WLOU. Mrs. Gibson and son Jackson, are hire, too, while houseguesting at the home of Dave and Mamie (Mr. and Mrs. Swing) Bondu. Cook Is putting up at the Blr John hostelry. Smathers for Veep? IF REP. DANTE FASCELL gets his wish, Senator G e o r g e Smathers will be nominated for vice president of the United States. As vice chairman of the Florida delegation to the Democratic National Convention, Fascell endorsed the Florida Senator on Tuesday. Mrs. Moss is the grandmother of Miss Myrtle Jones, singer-pianist now appearing nightly in the Circus Lounge, New York City, and mother of Mrs. Birdie Jones of Detroit. V H, Ip * FLENOY PAYNE A complaint was filed before the U. S. Commissioner at Clarksdale, Mississippi, •n September 22, 1953, charging Payne with a violation of Title 18, 0. S. Code, Section 1073, in that he fled from the State of Mississippi to avoid prosecu tion for the crime of murder. Payne is described as follows: Age 47, born July 18. 1909, Scott, Mississippi; Height, 5' II"; Weight, 139 to 160 pounds; Build, slender; Hair, black, kinky; Eyes, brown; Complexion, brown; Race, Negro; Nationality, American; Occupations, laborer, farmer; Scars and marks, cut scar on right temple, cut scar on chin, spot and cut scar on left fore arm, vaccination scar on left orm, cut scar on lower right buttock, two spot scars on back of right hand, cut scar on back of head; Remarks, may be wearing mustache, has a loud voice. Payne has been convicted previously for murder. He is reportedly armed with a pistol at all times and should bs considered extremely dangerous.
