In-Around The Bahamas By A. H. McKINZIt Clarence Farrington, a patient at the mental hospital at Fox Hill, attacked the medical officer with a knife on Dec. 15. In the com bat which lasted about half an hour, the doctor was stabbed in the face and head, and on his hand before Farrington was sub dued. An attendant, who was with the doctor, is reported to have run from the scene and to have locked himself in a room. Inves tigation is being made to determ ine how Farrington obtained the knife. * A group of Harvard graduates known as The Harvard Friends of Eleuthera, presented a .plaque to His Excellency the Governor re cently at the opening ceremony of the multi-million dollar Coral Harbor Club, as a token of 320 years of friendship between' the Bahamas and the oldest North American college. The plaque measures 12 x 14 inches of a solid plank of very good “brasiletto” wood, and was carved by Truman Bailey in Lima, Peru, and was presented by the lit. Rev. Spence Burton, bishop of Nassau, and a 1903 Har vard graduate. Back in 1650, the Eleutherans, in appreciation for help received, sent 10 tons of brasiletto wooci to Boston to be sold, and the net proceeds .be given to the college. * The Rt. Rev. Roscow George Shedden, D.D., a former bishop of Nassau, died at Woodstock House, England, on Dec. 11 at the age of 74. * Mrs. Louise Johnson and her daughter, Maxine of 1755 NW 68th st., Miami, have told your scribe that they have enjoyed a wonderful Christmas in Nassau and hope to return in the very near future. * ,aslns. Members of this chib have made this an annual project for the past several years. The Sportsmen, one of the most popular clubs in Miami, has en gaged the huge Bayfront Park City Auditorium for their 16th Anniversary Sports Ball on Jan uary 17th. The many followers of this club have made all other halls in this area indequate for this annual affair. Edward Bogie is the genial president of the civic and social group. Other officers include Moses Wilson, Israel Armstrong, James Boykin and Samuel Wright.
