It told of a struggle going on to help set up an emergency health center, so much needed in the area to help save lives that would possibly be lost. Again our help is needed. Oba diah Barr of 1844 NW 79th st The Rev. Mr. Barr will perform his duties in St Aim’s Orthodox in Liberty City. The service was a spectacular one and the instal lation splendidly performed by His Grace. Rev. Barr merits this elevation to the Holy Order of canon minor for a splendid job well dona. He and his co-workers accom plished much in Liberty City. Rev. Barr is also most grateful and many thanks to all his friends who were active or inac tive in he!oing to attain this ac complishment Rev. Rouse of Chicago purchased a large parcel of land through Mrs. Ora D. Tay lor, broker-salesman associate of the Landry Realty Co. We wel come Mr. Rouse and family into our area as residents and devel oper. Mr. Rouse is also a real es tate broker. 'The Children’s Home at Ken dall is one of the most progres sive groups in Dade County un der leadership of Mr. and Mrs. Alfonso Williams. A new girls dormitory will be built there soon. The religious work is sup ervised by Rev. and Mrs. W. ET Taylor who conduct Sunday School each Sunday. This mis sionary work has been going on by this team for three years now. Churches, clubs or individuals are invited to include this group in their planning and budget. The White groups are helping, so why not let us help our own boys and girls to rehabilitate? A friendly call or j visit will help. ; | Teaching Awards High school seniors who plan to prepare for a teaching career vill comoete on March 25 in the nation-wide scholarship contest if the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa. The national 1957 award will be $3,000, to be even ly distributed among the three regions, to their highest ranking ?andidate. Eligibility require ments are: 1. Candidates first occupation choice must be teaching. 2. Candidates must be in the Upper 25 percent of their class in scholarship. Substantiating proof must ac company each application. 3. Candidates must be members of the graduating class of 1957. 4. Candidates must be in need of financial help. Inquiries may be sent to the Local Scholarship Chairman for this area, whose nameand ad dress is: Mrs. Gladys Robinson, 1855 NW 71st, Miami, Fla. and let this serve as a beacon for others to follow in the footsteps of the doth.
