Lawrence Corcoran, chaplain. In commenting on the hospit al’s improvement program, the Bishop praised the work of the Sisters of St. Francis who oper ate the hospital, and to all the persons who have aided their work. He paid special tribute to his predecessor, Bishop James J.. Hartley, and to the hospital’s for mer chief of staff, the late Dr. Every child born into the world cries the message that God does not yet despair of man One member of the Legion of Mary who was sub e e to 43 hours of ques tioning in five days by the Reds brought a bun dle of clothes to the police sta tion saying, “This is the last day I am coming here And I am not signing any confession ei ther” Our friends who are making daily sacrifices for the Holy Father’s Missions would show equal faith under the same circumstances GOD LOVE YOU to Mrs. A. K. who earned $4 for the Holy Father’s Missions by doing the neighbors’ hair. Long may she wave! GOD LOVE YOU to the K. family who sent the $10 they saved to buy a new record player, “but after reading ‘God Love You’ decided that the Holy Father’s Missioners needed it more than we do. It took us a year to save a thou sand pennies.” Old gold— old silver—old diamonds today! Friends of the Holy Father’s mis sions may send to us their dis carded childhood jewelry and re ceive our prayerful thanks. God Love You--------------- Legion Of Mary Suffering Persecution For the Faith by Bishop Fulton J. Sheen----------------- dersigned joined the reactionary Legion of Mary on ... (date) and conducted secret counter-revolu tionary and evil activities against the government, the people, and Soviet Russia” ... If the young people of China are persecuted for refusing to sign, then all true lovers of Our Lady in this coun try can at least make a sacrifice for the Holy Father’s Missions, that they may feel the pain of giving, as their sisters in Christ feel the pain of persecution GOD LOVE YOU to M.L.McG. who gives $9 or one day’s pay a week ... To be a missionary you do not need to sail to dis tant lands: the gift of a World Mission Rosary to a Catholic who will pray on it for over 100,000 dedicated Apostles is a way of extending the Universal Church. One of these multi-colored Ros aries—each decade of a differ ent color as a sign of dedica tion to the conversion of a dif ferent continent—will be sent to anyone who requests it and en closes a two dollar offering. Ev ery World Mission Rosary in use has been blessed by me. Every Catholic loves his faith only those who make sacrifices for it have zeal GOD LOVE YOU to R.C.McK. for $20 for the Holy Father’s Missions saved by making a 25c sacrifice a day A Chinese Mother was told by the police that her son had sign ed a false confession. She had no way of telling if it was true. But she said to the Reds: “Let him come back then, and I will go and fill his prison cell to atone for his sins.” We cat) atone for our sins more cheaply by sac rificing luxury for the Holy Fa ther’s Missions instead of free dom GOD LOVE YOU to J.M.F. for $400 “originally in tended to purchase an automo bile. But after reading your ‘God Love You’ I couldn’t face Christ at Communion while I ride and the Holy Father’s Missionaries walk for miles and are in such need.” This is one of the great est sacrifices we have received If every U.S. Catholic gave up the equivalent of 2 cigarettes a week, we should receive over $30 million a year from this source alone. Want to give your two cents’ worth every week? The Holy Father cannot look to European Catholics for finan cial help today: war.^ have made them poor. He cannot ask the people of the mission lands to support their own churches they are as incapable of doing so as your small daughter is of earning her own living. He must ask the adult Church in the U.S. to help the orphaned churches of Asia, Africa and Oceana. If you love the Holy Father, tear out this column, pin your sacrifice to it and mail to the Most Rev. Fulton J. Sheen, National Director of The Society for the Propagation of the Faith, 109 E. 38th St., New York 16, New York, or your Di ocesan Director, Reverend James Kulp, 246 East Town Street, Co lumbus 15, Ohio. ------------..........
