Channel Island Vicar Dies LONDON (NC) —Msgr. Thom as Grant Hickey, Vicar General of the Channel Islands, who was once placed against a wall by the Nazis to be shot, has died in Guernsey at the age of 74. The Channel Islands, part of the Portsmouth diocese, were the only area of the United Kingdom occupied by the Ger mans during World War II. A candy booth and antique and white ele phant stands are also included. The new chairman for the com ing year will be introduced at this meeting. MARION—An auction and ba zaar, sponsored by the Parish Council, will be held on Monday night, April 28, in Moira hall. The proceeds will be used to pur chase equipment for the pro posed hot lunch program in the school, and for worthwhile proj ects of the PCCW. WAINWRIGHT The liturgy of Baptism was discussed when the St. Therese study club met recent ly. Guests included the Rev. Mi chael Tabit and his mother. Miss Jean Berlendis led the discussion. The society announced it will re ceive communion in a body on the first Sunday of each month. Mrs. Clarence Basiletti and Jo sephine Berlendis will lead the dis cussions of the club for next month. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Serafino Besozzi and Mrs. Louis Berlendis. Nomination of officers for the coming year will take place at the next meeting of the St. Fran cis Parish Council of Catholic Women, Columbus, Wednesday evening, April 23. A pot-luck supper for the en tire parish will be given at 6:30 p. m., and at 7:30 there will be a talk by the Rev. James W. Kulp, Diocesan Director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. The Rev. James Kulp, diocesan director of the Society for the Prop agation of the Faith, will speak on the missions at a meeting of the Catholic Women’s League of Co lumbus, Monday, April 21. at 8 p. m. in the Catholic Book Shop. Movies of the African missions will be a feature of the program. PTA NOTES The PTA of St. Ladislaus parish. Columbus, will meet Thurs., April 17, at 8 p.m., in the school hall. George Arnold, chief of the civil ian defense for Franklin County, will speak and show films on civil ian defense. Mothers of children in the seventh grade will serve re freshments. A roast beef dinner will be served by the PTA of St. Mary church, Columbus, on Sunday, April 20, from 12 to 6 p.m., in the school cafeteria, 684 Mo hawk street. Aquinas Mothers Club Plans Smorgasbord The Aquinas Mothers' Club will close its current social season with a smorgasbord at the high school Thursday, April 24, from 5 to 8 p. m. Chairman of the event is Mrs. J. T. Neely, with Mrs. M. M. Holland co-chairman. Past presidents of the club will be in charge of a bake sale which will take place in connection with the smorgasbord.
