SMC. For Young People Flames Against The Sky, by Bro ther Ernest, S C. Notre bame, Ind., Dujarie Press, 1951 111 p. .loan a flash of white armor dashing through the thick of battle to victory for her native France that’s the picture Brother Ernest paints for us in Flames Against the Sky. First, we see the thirteen-year old saint in prayerful conversa tion with the Archangel Michael. “You must save France,” he tells her St. Catherine and SI Margaret give her the same message. She must save France? She, only a peasant girl who didn't even know how to read or write? Ye®, for that was God's will for her. Through unimaginable difficul ties and dangers, the little saint led her army from victory to vic tory, cheering her men on as she waved aloft her banner of Jesus and Mary. Then came betrayal, treachery, and imprisonment, just as her “Voices” had foretold Our final glimpse of her is a triumphant, yet a fearful one. In the midst of flames flashing against the sky, Joan, kissing the Cross, and calling upon the Name of Jesus, achieves her final victory and wings her way to Heaven. SMC. Mary Sister Paul, 1949. Dr. Tan said: “Unfortunately so far ho chem ical or mathematical formula has yet been discovered that can an swer that question. Every girl who marches down the aisle is taking a chance.
