St. James reigns supremely (barring an upset by St. John) after its mauling of St. Mary by a 12-0 score. But coach Bob Cain is not wearing his crown as yet. It seems teams claim weeks ences are to St. Catharine and St. Christopher. There’s no doubt that the others have the same idea but Tony Zaier's and Tom Morris' boys are in better position to talk about it. The St. Christo pher outfit has been danger ous throughout the season and St. Catharine is just beginning to fee! its strength. So it will e a hectic finish for all concerned. By the way the St. Christopher, St. James game has been moved tc Nov. 3rd. that there are a couple of that are out to test his to supremacy in the last of the season. The refer- The St. Jamec-St. Mary- af fair was a good game. The teams were very well matched but the Linden boys, behind tt excellent play of BOB DELOZIER and PAT MUNYUN, had the edge. The scorin'- was done in the first quarter—e good thing for St. James, too, because the very fine line of St. Mary's would not give at all in the final half. We must consede to CARL RAU the credit for having the best line that we have seen in the grade School circuit. St. Mary Magdalene’s team and the squad from St. Leo’s were in front at this writing but like the other loop the standing was simply a temporary thing. The top teams are meeting each other in the last few games and nobody can be sure of what the outcome will be. As for the Visitation Loop— St. Leo has to play St. Vincent and St. Patrick—well it’s going to be fun and interesting. the the As Coaches set the plans for annual All Star games at monthly meeting last week, in former years, each team will send one lineman anf two backs to the team. The star squad will be coached by the second place team mentor and wil play the Champs on their home field. The souvenir program books will be used again. The meeting, not too well attended, had some lively discussion. Plans wore laid for a general meeting coaches association in her. of the Decern- Head HERE AND THERE Coach Tony Zeier and oppos ing coaches have many words of praise for the little St. Christopher end Chuck Nance. They have rea son to speak well of him In this day we hear so many of the re marks about the teams outweigh ing each other, little Chuck stands out as a perfect example of "what’s in a boy.” Chuck weighs only 66 pounds and is in the 7th grade. Still, he plays regularly on the de fensive St. Christopher heavy weight team and all agree that "nobody” ever gets around him He really goes for that idea about the bigger they are the harder they fall he also uses his head to carry out the rest of the line— hut don’t let ’em fall on you Every now and then a cry will be heard from one of the teams about a lack of man power. I«irry Doyle at St. Thomas has only 15 boys Frank Wollenfelz at Our Lady of peace 16, and Pat Macioce about 14 at St. Vincent, but they never say a word, they just play St. Vincent will play its re maining games on its home field. The first few were played away. Even though the basketball season is far off the plans for the second annual clinic on Dec. 30 are being formed The clinic held for the first time last year was a de cided success Also, feelers are he ing sent out about the possibility of extending the play in the Dioce san Mission Tournament in March to other schools in the Diocese.
