JANUARY 30. 1 953 Press Month (Continued from Page 1) Meehan says "their knowledge of their religion is far deeper, their instinct for things Catholic far keener and their constancy in their faith far more stable because of the instruction, the moral evalu ations. and the constant inspiration which is the backbone of the Cath olic Press.” Himself the editor of The New World, Chicago archdiocesan news paper, Father Meehan makes a “few personal observations.” “Show me a home that has pro duced priests, religious Brothers and Sisters and I will show you a home that was blessed with Cath olic books, newspapers, magazines, periodicals and pamphlets.” Father Meehan asserts. “Show me a home that has sent its sons and daughters as Religious to our home and foreign missions and 1 will tell you that th^ir story has been told by the Catholic mission press. Show me well-instructed Catholic lay leaders and I will show you mothers and fathers who are ful filling their obligation of truly educating their children by telling them the story of the Church as is can only be found in the Catholic Press. Show me a virile Catholic home and I’ll sfiow you one that is built on solid Catholic reading. From the home. Catholic reading will influence your parish, your neighborhood, your community, your office and your factory. But if the Catholic press is not in your home, your Catholic influence will bo nil.” Father Meehan points out that “during the month of February, with the encouragement of our hierarchy, wc in America celebrate February as Catholic Press Month.” But. he also makes it clear, the thoiic Press, of course, does not confine its work to any one sea son.” but serves its clients faith fully the whole year round. Calling attention to the motto for Catholic Press Month: “The Catholic Press Helps Good Families Grow Better.” Father Meehan says1 “the real Catholic family knows tht daily story of the hurch, is inspired to greater spiritual per fection. learns the true meaning of religion through the pages and the inspiration and the instruction of the Catholic Press.” Dolly Stiers Wins 2nd Place In TB Essay Contest NEW LEXINGTON Miss Dolly Stiers, daughter of Mr and Mrs. F.
