of clothing, a quantity of medicine
and lactose, mosquito netting and
eight bolts of denim.

those in need is greatlv appreci
ated. The clothing, medicine and
other items will help us to re
lieve the plight of many refugees,
family members of servicemen,
miners, fishermen, factorv work
ers and wharf workers. Please ac

The date for the observance has
not yet beep announced.
Reason for the Catholic Action
project was seen in the announce
ment that the new' National Revo
lutionary government headed by
President Victor Paz Estenssoro
has set up a committee to draft a

Fatima Pilgrimage Planned

announced it is sponsoring a na
tional pilgrimage to the Marian
shrine at Fatima, to leave New
York on the Queen Mary Sept. 23.
The pilgrimage is to be at Fatima
on Oct. 13, the anniversary of the
sixth apparition. Aim of the jour
ney is to offer prayers of thanks
giving for the Korean truce and to
pray for world peace.

There's that word again. What’s
Secularism? Well, Secularism is
leaving God out of the picture.
If you ban religious reading for
pupils, hut admit non-religious
reading, you're leaving God out
of their picture out of their educa
tion out of their most formative
years.
To take an extreme example, the
pupils could, under this definition,
read the Daily Worker, but not the
Declaration of Independence,
which speaks of God, ot the God
given rights of men, and so on.
Yes, 1 know, that's an extremely
extreme example, but it points up
the problem. To speak more mod
eratcly, the pupils could read
something like the New Republic,
but the.v couldn't read the Jewish
Advocate, or the Christian Cen
tury, or Commonweal.
Thus their minds could be form
ed by irrehgion but not by religion.
They could he turned away from

Polish Priest in England Mysteriously Disappears

Father Martynellis was one of
the last persons to see the Polish
chaplain a few hours before he
hurried out of his lodgings in
Bradford after supper following
two mysterious phone calls and
vanished without trace.
“He spoke of receiving a phone
call from someone purporting to
speak on my behalf,” Father
Martynellis then said. “I told him
that I had not authorized anyone
to phone for me, and then he left.”
Bradford police stated officially
that despite intense inquiries in
the city and elsewhere nothing had
been found regarding the missing
42-year-old Salesian on which a
theory could be firmly based. “The
reason for the intensive inquiry is
the possibility that Father Bo
rynski is not a free agent.” they
added. “If he is a free agent, his
whereabouts are not of particular
interest to the police (as a normal
ly missing person) until two
months have elapsed. Because of
the publicity given to the matter,
the police would welcome informa
tion which any persons can give,
compatible with their religious ob
ligations.”
