Two other canonizations are also almost sure to be Marian Year events. (NC) —Hundreds of thousands of mar riages that end in separation or divorce could be kept intact if young couples were properly brief ed beforehand on the chef booby traps in married life, according to Father John A. O’Brien of the Uni versity of Notre Dame. “Such premarital instruction is no less important than the blood test and should be required before a license to wed is granted,” Fa ther O’Brien said. The address by the noted author and marriage counsellor was a highlight of Religious Emphasis Week at West Liberty State Col lege. A detailed investigation of 5.000 marriage failures indicates nine booby-traps lie in the path of a long and happy married life, Fa ther O’Brien said. “Plain drunken ness ruins the largest number of marriages, accounting for about 30% of our broken homes,” he said. “In addition, it is a contribut ing factor in the wreckage of many other marriages.” “Infidelity ranks second and is the cause of about 25% of our mar riage failures.” the Notre Dame priest declared. “In four out of five cases the husband is the guilty partner. It must be emphasized that marriage begets not merely a legal but also a moral and religious obligation to be faithful to one's vows.” Father O’Brien listed other booby-traps and their relative im portance in marriage failures as “Your Friendly Hslghboriy Store” CITY FURNITURE 1288 SULLIVAN RA. 257 WE Planty of Prompt 78 W»«k» TRADE Parkins Delivery To Pay CLASSIFIED SECTION 20c per line O.
