(NC) In a letter to all pharmaceutical organizations and publications of the nation, a drug store own er has declared that “in the eye of the public, ‘the drug store’ is becoming the purveyor of filth” because of the obscene literature menace. Thomas A. Gisvold, owner of the Gisvold Rexall Drug Stores here, said his letter was intended as a challenge to “what is called the professional ism of pharmacy.”’ He continued: “At our local, district, state and national meetings, it is inevitable that the assurance that we belong to a professional group is made a topic in a program. In our jour nals of all descriptions, the mark’ of professionalism is ever kept be fore us. In spite of all this, we are failing badly.” that a druggist in Minneapolis had to appeal to the Governor for help in action against maga zine distributors who force this filth upon those who will not sell it." “Just where are our pharma ceutical organizations, the protec tors of professionalism, when help is needed?” Mr. Gisvold continued. “The sale of all filth in drug stores should be stopped now, voluntarily or by law, but our organizations should be back of such a move ment so that we who do not want such junk have a ‘strong arm’ to use when the same is used against Mr. Gisvold expressed to his fel low druggists the hope "that a recognizable movement against filth, now, in stores, by us.” One communist concession to the classics she indicated, was a little Shakespeare those parts of Ham let and Macbeth which are bloody and violent.” Not So Few Dr. Dodd warned against under estimating the threat of the so called "relatively feu” commun ists in the United States. “R•member," the said, "there were only 25,000 communists in the Soviet Union in 1917.
