Encyclicals Guide
For Anti-Red Fight
Nuncio Declares
MEXICO CITY—(NC)—Archbish
op William Piani, Apostolic Dele
gate to Mexico, pointed to the “val
uable and enlightened” encyclicals
of the recent pontiffs, especially
Leo XIII, Pius XI and the present
Pope Pius XII, as a guide to the
best way to combat communism.
In a letter to the anti-communist
Popular Front of Mexico meeting
here in congress he said: “Would
that those attending the congress
might have the opportunity and
time to probe deeply into such out
standing documents and the
papal teachings “in reference to the
social questions, materiaftsm and
communism.”
The light of truth and justice is
the best weapon against the “in
sidious and perverse work” of com
munism in Latin America, he said.
Meanwhile, on the eve of the
opening of the Anti-Communist
congress, its organizers reportedly
protested to the government for
having denied them two halls which
had previously been made available
to communists without difficulty.

On the other hand, note how
much pessimism is the modern
mode. A weary feeling fills
many minds that the problems
of life are insoluble, and that
despair is inevitable. We would
probably despair too if the only
hope for international peace was
the United Nations, if the only
basis for inner peace was the
couch of the psychoanalyst.
Thank God a dozen times a
day for your blessings, but also
do something mort. If a friend
gave you a new automobile
would you not send him a gift in
thanksgiving? Since God has giv
en you His Redemption, His Eu
charist, His Life, why not give
Him a gift that 1,400.000,000
pagans in the world might know
about Him as you do and maybe
even love Him more than you do.
Every time you discover a new
blessing in your life make a new
sacrifice in thanksgiving. You
will be amazed how your bless
ings will multiply.
We will soon be telling you
how to remember our new ad
dress, so please keep saving
your pennies!
