Time Life
BY FATHER GABRIEL HAFFUKD
The Saint of the Week
Next Monday the Jesuits around
the world will be very happy and
with them everyone who has spe
cial love for youth, for it is the
feastday of St. Aloysius. Although
he is not the sole patron of youth,
he seems to hold the edge for de
votion to the great virtue of youth,
purity. Some new biographies of
St. .Aloysius treat him with more
kindness than some of the old
standards. He 'was all man and a
million feet thick in his love for
Christ. Look up his story and then
get down on your knees and talk
to God about him.

Some people spend a lifetime
looking for the right parking

Must Reading for Some Boys
One John D. Mac Donald has
written the lead story for the June
issue of American legion Maga
zine and has called it “Kids on
Wheels.’’ It is the story of a chap
and his motor scooter. Besides be
ing the most moving hit of prose
I have read in many a scoot, it tells
so strong a story’ about motor
scooters that it ought to be re
printed and put in the hands of
every teen age boy who dreams
of getting a scooter. Hunt it up at
home or ask for it from one of
your neighbors. It will repay your
effort in finding it, for there is no
effort whatever to reading it. It is
dynamic.
So Take It
If this isn’t the kind of weather

Clean Before and After
Everyone likes to find a clean
spot for a picnic. It just isn’t
any fun getting the ground crew
to clean up a place before you set
tle down to enjoy some fun. That
goes for you when you are ready
to call it a day and wind up the
picnic. Don't be a litterbug. Strew
ing rubbish around turns any place
into a garbage dump and defaces
the beauties of nature and the
park board. Give a thought to
the people who will show’ up next,
and your conscience will be as
clear as the landscape they will
enjoy.

Looking Up
Recently with the advent of high

whole field of popular music is
going Io improve. Some compan

records in “Hi. Fi.” and it seems
as though the trend is going to
continue. These records sound all

Confidence
A confidence game is not good,
yet it seems to work da.v by day
We ought to have true confidence
in the abilities that God gave us,
and make up our minds that we
actually can do the work we are

more tasks than over-confidence
has spoiled. Do all the work you

Diocesan Camp Counsellors Set For Summer
One of the busiest group* of young men in the diocese these days is pictured above with Father
Richerd Dodd, diocesan director of youth activities. The group represents the Camp St. Joseph
counselling staff whose job it is to care for and direct the activities of youngsters who attend
diocesan camp. Pictured above, seated, left to right, are Ed Freeman, Joe Senderell, John Reilly,
Martin, Bill Johnson, Ed Fairchild and John Schneider. Standing, left to right, ere Phil Cleary,
gene Yoris, Father Dodd, Carl Clagett, Robert Luchi and Albert Mulkey. Mrs. Betty Newell and
ward Huber of Marion, O., also members of th* camp staff, were not present when th* picture
taken. In all, seventeen seminarians from St. Charles Seminary will serve as counsellor* during
summer months. Camp St. Joseph offer* a splendid vacation spot for Catholic boy* of th* Diocese.
