MT VERNON Over one hun dred members of the St. Vincent de Paul PTA group attended the first meeting of the school year held in the new cafeteria of the new school. Parents of the first grade pupils von the trophy for the hest attendance. It was voted to accept the project to equip the new playground. Mr. William Mun roe, president, presided at the meeting. Mrs. John McCann and her committee served refresh ments after the business meeting. DELAWARE Mrs. Mabie Royce, director of nurses at the Delaware City-County Health Dept., was the principal speaker at the first meeting of the 1954 55 season of the St. Mary's Par ent Teachers Association. Mrs. Royce talked on the health department program and the way in which it will help children and the schools through regular check ups. J. COSHOCTON a~ More than 100 attended the first fall meeting of Sacred Heart School PTA held in the school hall recently. Parents of the first grade pupils, new mem bers of Sacied Heart Church who have children starling in Sacred Heart school and tne teachers were introduced by Mrs. Floyd Casner. The president presented Either Gately, new’ assistant pastor who spoke briefly. “The Meaning and Purpose of Sacred Heart School” was the subject of the talk given by Monsignor Joseph E. McGlynn. Sister Estave's room, first and second grades, receiveu the attend, ance award. Plans were made to hold a social in the school Friday evening, Oct. 15. In the ensuing months, a party will be sponsored each month by the PTA on the first Saturday. Refreshments were served by present and past offi cers. The next meeting will be Oct. 11. The St. Ladislaus PTA held its first meeting of the year last week, with Monsignor William Kappes as guest speaker. Mrs. Warren Marshall will serve as president during the coming year. Father Ferrer Smith, O.P., Washington, D.C., will give the keynote address at the Biltmore Hotel following the Mass when he calls upon delegates to make of their own cities, “a city of Mary within the world of God." Joseph on the Ohio Cin cinnati have selected Sunday, Oct. ’0 the eve of the feast of the maternity of Mary as their pil grimage day. This Marian Year Pilgrimage will open at the 9.00 a. m. Mass sung by Msgr. Edmund Burkley, pastor of St. Mary Church, Columbus. The alumnae will attend this Mass being offered in Thanks giving tor the many blessings and gi aces bestowed upon both the Mt. and the alumnae. Immediately following this Mass and Commun ion the alumnae with their guest Msgr. Burkley, will breakfast at Kuennings.
