Besides this divine ly revealed Tradition there are many traditions which are npt of divine origin. They depend upon the historical evidence alone for their reliability, and many of them give apparently true details of early Christian history e g. from such traditions we have the names of St. Joachim and St. Anne as the parents of the Bless ed Virgin. We should keep clear the difference between Divine Tradition and human traditions or legends of the early Church. Q. Re sponsible leaders of the CIO and AF of have gone a good job in selling private enterprise to the rank and file. We can do our part by making labor's associa tion with us a happy one. Shoulder to Shoulder Another thing that employer associations are doing is to en courage management to partici pate in community projects. We are happy to say that most firms do a great deal in this regard. There are few community pro jects that are not headed by man agement personnel. Unions are cooperating more and more, and thus we see Management and I,a hor, working together, shoulder to shoulder, for the good of the whole community. Our companies played a part in the building of the Holland Vehicular Tunner and the Gan sevoort Meat Market. Presently we are lending our personnel and the influence of our com panies to the forwaro-looking efforts of the United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association of New York in the matter of a new and modern wholesale mar ket for fresh fruit and vege tables in the metropolitan area. In this we are not alone. Many companies are doing similar things in New' York, Chicago and other cities. Community Service Important This is not simple altruism. We have found it to be good bus iness. When a community flour ishes. we thrive. Our position in the community is good because the community is in good shape. Were it to decline, our com panies would suffer. We must serve our community or we are lost. The Christian doctrine of ownership as stewardship is sound business. It is along these lines that I would- suggest that we in em ployer organizations move. I am sure that many employers are beginning to think this way. But more than organizations, we need more emnloyers with vis ion. We need less talk and more action, less blueprints and more sacrifices, less meetings and more prayers. If the laity supplies the leaven, the bread of peace and prosperity will rise in our world of industry.
