Max Eucharistic Congress Plans Readied In Rio RIO DE JANEIRO (NC) Plans are moving ahead rapidly for the 36th International Eucharistic Congress which is «ynected to attract more than a million pilgrims here next summer from all parts of the world. It will be only the second time that an International Eucharistic Congress has been held in a South American country. The first was in 1934, when His Holiness Pope Pius XII, then Eugene Cardinal Pacelli, Vatican Secretary of State, presid ed over the 33rd Congress held at Buenos Aires, Argentina. The first International Eucharistic Congress was held at Lille, France, in 1881. On this site, which affords a clear view of the gigantic statue of Christ of the Corcovado over looking the city ol Rio, the week long International Eucharistic Con gress will get under way on July 17, 1955. with the most impressive gathering of Church dignitaries ev er recorded in this Latin American capital.
