Formosan Church Dedicated To Our Lady Of Rosarv TAIPEI, Formosa (NC) Highlight of the Month of the Rosarv in Free China was the solemn blessing of a new church dedicated to Our Lady of .the Rosary. It is located in the town of Tou-liu, where Bishop Thomas Niu, Apostolic Prefect of Chia-yi, has his resi dence. The blessing was performed by Archbishop Antonio Riberi, Apostolic Internuncio to China, who preached a sermon in which he appealed for confidence in Our PUMPS Lady of the Rosary at this hour when Christianity is thicetened by communism. Among those present at the sol emn blessing and the Pontifical High ass celebrated by the Inter nuncio were, beside Bishop Niu, Archbishop Petronio Lacchio, O.F.M., of Changsha Msgr. Dornin ico Enrici, counselor of the Infer nunciature Msgr. William F. Kup fer. M., Apostolic Prefect of Tai. chung. and Msgr. Eugene ahy, S. J., Apostolic Prefect qf Yang chow. The Prefecture in which the new church was built was established in 1952 and is staffed by Chinese sec. ular priests. The banner award went to the fourth grade lor having the largest percentage of parents pres ent. The door prize was won by Mrs. John Stanton and the cake was awarded to John Potts. The new law repeal ing one ruled “too vague" by a Municipal Court judge, provides for a maximum fine of $500 or six months in jail, or both.
