The Soviet-sponsored Society for the Dissemination of Scientific Knowledge and the communist Central Committee for Youth In itiation, both with headquarters in this city’s Soviet sector, are in charge of the well-planned and far-reaching campaign, directed by officials of the Socialist Unity (Communist) Party. Results of their efforts so far are disheartening to the Red leaders. No more than ten per cent of th* young people who er* to be graduated from public schools this spring have volun teered to undergo "initiation,” a ceremony meant to be the athe istic counterpart of First Com munion and Protestant tenfirma tion. Both Catholic and Protestant Bishops in the Soviet zone have vigorously opposed the communist move and urged parents to prevail upon their children not to undergo “initiation.” ------------------0----------------- 13 College Seniors Teaching School Thirteen seniors at St. Mary of the Springs College are presently engaged in student teaching in Co lumbus parochial and public schools under the direction of Sis ters Mary Augustine, O.P., and M.
