Broad 4802 Terriers Start District Today St. Charles Bows In Tourney Columbus Aquinas’ two -time state golf champions start first round play in the central district tourney Friday afternoon on the Ohio State University Grey course with two or three winners of the affair advancing into the state meet over the same course next week. Last year two teams, Aquinas and Upper Arlington, advanced to the state affair. If 21 or mofe teams enter the District event this year, three teams will advance. The total number of entries was not known until Thursday night. Last season Upper Arlington beat out Aquinas for top honor* in th* district and then the Ter rier* bounced back in th* stat* meet to set a new low record and capture the crown for th* sec ond straight year. Arlington was runner-up in th* final*. As was the case last season, Ar lington and Aquinas will enter dis trict competition bearing the title of favorites. Both teams went through their respective leagues unbeaten during the past season with Aquyias winning the playoff for the Greater Columbus title last Monday at University. Next weak', schedule: Aquinas Opens Bid for State The big surprise of Monday’s meeting was the great showing of sophomore Jim Muldoon for the Terriers who carded a hot 75 over the 18 hole tour. Bob Guarasci led Aquinas with 72 while Gene Cardi came in with 77 and Bill Muldoon shot 79. Arlington’s Jackie Nick laus was medalist with 68. Other top teams in the district event will be St. Charles, Wester ville, Linden McKinley and Bex ley. Each of these teams can get “hot” and cause anyone trouble. The district action will be 18 holes with the state meet going 36 holes over next week-end. Play will start Friday and conclude on Satur day.
