A popular Protestant minister in London, he created a sensation when he became a Catholic 23 years ago. He wrote two best sellers, "From Faith to Faith” and "The Inevitable Cross,” and made two lecture tours of the United States. He was one of the greatest evan gelical preachers of his day, and one of the most authoritative the ological writers outside Catholi cism. In his sincerity he turned more and more towards the Church, began to say “Mass,” hear “confessions” and give "absolu tions.” He became a heated center of controversy before his conver sion. -----------------—o-------------— Five Priests Baptize Gold Coast Convert Class CAPE COAST, Gold Coast, Af rica (NC) Five priests were needed to administer Baptism to 181 converts in the Cathedral of St. Francis de Sales here. Within five years the Catholic population in the Cape Coast arch diocese has increased by 25,329 to over 146,000. There are 10,076 catechumens. o------------------ READ THE TIMES CLASSIFIEDS.
