Reynold Hillenbrand of Hubbard

The Monsignor said “we have the
problem of communism in the
world today, mainly because it
poses as the answer to the econom
ic problem.” He added that the
economic problem is “the most
acute in the world today.”
Addressing the seventh annual
meeting of the Christian Family
Movement at the University of
Notre Dame. Monsignor Hillen
brand declared.
“Our task now is reduction of
the social order. Christ wants us
to lift up the social order and
Christianize it because it is hinder
ing the redemption of mankind.
“And nowhere is there to be
found a better solution to the
economic problem than in the
Church’s social doctrine. As Pius
XII has said ‘no one has offered a
better program, safe, strong, prac
tical.’

Motion Picture Department of the
International Federation of Catho
lic Alumnae, and was here to con
duct a “movie judging clinic” at
the IFCA's 20th annual convention.
The review committee of the
IFCA’s Motion Picture Department
has served since the inception of
the Legion of Decency as the na
tional reviewing group for the Le
gion.
Mrs. Looram recalled that last
Spring a Legion executive com
mented that "too many pictures
were coming through with Code
seals which no cod* worthy of
the name should grant." She said
"the crisis had been brewing for
some time, for picture* had
grown from 22 to 35 per cent of
the entire Hollywood output in

Of Movies Despite Attacks
ST. PAUL, Minn (NC) Attacks from certain interested quarters will not deter the
moral evefluation of motion pictures, Mrs. James Looram of New York declared here.
“The Legion of Decency will continue to judge Hollywood’s output of motion pictures,
and this in spite of blasts made against it by trade papers living off those same movies, and
in spite of Holywood's unfulfilled
promises to make better pictures,”
