Mission Fields of Korea
Receive Former Local Youth
Rev. J. Daniel Schneider (above) of the Catholic For
eign Missionary Society of America (Maryknoll) and a
former Columbus resident, will sail for missionary work
in Korea on July eighth.
Father Schneider is the son of Philip A. Schneider of
Rutherford, New Jersey and the late Mrs. Schneider* and
a grand-son of the late Jerry O'Shaughnessy, for whom
the O'Shaughnessy dam was named.
He was graduated from Holy Nam* School in Colum
bus and received his Bachelor's degree in Business Ad
ministration from Fordham University, New York City,
in 1939, entering the Maryknoll Novitiate the same year.
Since his ordination in 1945 Father Schneider has
been engaged in administrative and promotional work at
Maryknoll headquarters in Ossining, N.Y. This is his first
assignment in the mission fields.
Father Schneider is presently visiting ai the home of
his sister, Mrs. James Manney, 1628 Franklin Avenue,
Columbus.

Him Sodom did not. No phil
osophy in the world, no human
ethic will ever draw men to
repentance, only the perfect
beauty and holiness revealed
in the Person of Christ can do
that.
It is not enough mereJy to
avoid evil we must do good. It
is not enough to spurn mortal
sin we must become partakers

MADRID (Radio. NC) His Holiness Pope Pius
XII urged the people of Spain to spare no effort to "put
fully into action the social teaching of the Church.”
In a message* broadcast to a rally here marking the
39th anniversary of his consecration as a bishop, the Holy
Father said that if the Church’s
social doctrine is brought into
pray, “We shall thus be comforted
to see in your nation the dawn of
a new moral force, of fruitful
harmony and of increasing pros
perity.”

At the Oratory it was said that
the 'Mass for Cmdr. Crabb a
convert, was not one of those for
which the intentions are listed
publicly. It was not disclosed who
had requested it.
Commander Crabb, who is
missing and presumed dead, was
said to have been on a non-offie
ial investigating dive in the har
