Police confiscated a recent edi
tion of Antorcha, which is pub
lished by the National Council of
Catholic Youth, after it had print
ed articles criticizing communism.
The action against the maga
zine was countermanded after
three days. The official explana
tion was that a mistake had been
made and the order was intended
to apply to another publication
of the samp name. The other
magazine, however, is published
about 190 miles from Buenos
Aires.
The police order against the
magazine was withdrawn, it was
stated here, after His Eminence
Antonio Cardinal Caggiano,
Bishop of Rosario, had an inter
view with Dr. Laureano Land
aburu, Minister of Interior:
Representatives of the National
Council of Catholic Youth also
protested to Dr. Landaburu.

Magazine Charges Leftist
Influence After Seizure
BUENOS AIRES (NO) Publishers of a Catholic
magazine here have charged that seizure of a recent edition
by police is “a clear sign” that leftists hold influential gov
ernment posts and are “trying to seize the power they
could never win legally.”

blow. Could it be thet some in
fluentiel Marxists are planted
in strategic posts? We see here
a clear sign that leftist forces
are trying to seize the power
they never could win in licit
ways."

article on the arrival in Argentina
of delegates of the World Federa
tion of Democratic Youth, a com
munist front organization, and an
article listing all communist pa
pers now being published in Ar
gentina.

the political stalemate by cooper
ating with left-wing communists
