Few tnere are who recognize Christ in His journeys through the centuries in His Mystical Body, the Church. The com plaint of St. Paul against the Corinthians might be repeated in our generation, namely “we are not discemers of the Lord’s Body.” He comes to our battered and beaten, from sia and China. The only who notice Him are those recognized Ulysses, the humble and those schooled in pain and sacrifice. The humble are like the dog who recognized Ulys ses or the ox and the ass who recognized the Savior at the crib the other group are those who have been close to suffer ing and recognize His scars re ceived in the modern Gol gothas of the world. His Heav enly Body is beyond the reach of nails, but His Mystical Body the Church is still undergoing its bitter passion. Father Samuel Fabbro, of the Verona Fathers mission congre gation, who served for 34 years in the African missions, at one time was the confessor of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini. He now is residing at the Vernona Fa thers’ house here. A native of Castel Tesino, Italy, he joined the mission society in 1898 and was ordained August 12, 1906, in Verona, Italy. In 1908 he was named superior of the Verona Fathers’ house in Sidcup, England. One of his as signments was to hear confes sions of nuns in the area. Nisthimura and Father Leo J. Steinbach, M. M., became fast friends. The boy, then 15, Japanese-American, was interned at a wartime camp after his mission in Japan was closed. A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then. With the war’s end, Father Steinbach re turned to his mission in Japan, the Nishimura family to their Los Angeles home. But the friendship of the veter an priest made a lasting impres sion on young Bryce. In June of this year he was ordained to the Maryknoll priesthood. Now he is Father Nishimura. A government committee gave this report after on-the-spot in vestigations of scones of volun tary social groups in this coun try. The six-member a 11 -Hindu committee noted that the “pro fit motive’’ discernible in a large number of Hindu institu tions was conspicuously absent in those conducted by Christian missionary groups. The policy in such Hindu homes, the report .'•tated, seems to be to give the women to the highest bidder in the marriage market. This situation was contrasted by the committee with what it described as the “progressive and scientific approach" pre vailing in missionary institu tions. particularly those conduc ted by Catholics. The committee said that where marriages take place in the mis sionary homes, the bridegroom is sponsored by his parish priest. Since both bride and bridegroom belong to an organized religious community, there is a double safeguard for their future hap piness, the report stated. —---------------o------------------- San Juan Diocese Sets Up Emigration Office SAN JUAN.
