Publishes ‘Anti Stalin’ Paper NEW YORK—(NO —A series of 18 documents dealing with the anti-Stalin campaign being conducted in communist-control led countries, and within com munist parties throughout the world, has been published here by the Columbia University Press. Edited by the Russian Insti tute of the university, the book includes the secret speech of Nikita S. Krushchev, communist party chief, about the “cult of the individual,” given at the 20th congress of the Communist party in Moscow last February. Contraceptive Use Imply Man Only Developed Animal NEW YORK (NC) Such practices as artificial family restriction, sterilization and therapeutic abortion im ply that man is only a highly developed animal having no eternal destiny and no responsibility to God for his actions. Father John C. Thomas, S. J., member of the Institute of So cial Order at St. Louis University and author of “The American Ca tholic Family," told an ABC ra dio network audience this in a “Christian in Action” broadcast. The program is produced by the National Council of Catholic Men. It was the first in a series of radio addresses Father Thomas will give on “The Christian Fam ily in Mid-Century America.” Writers who advocate such practices, he said imply a view of the human person "to tally opposed to the treditional Christian view." Today we have no unified family program to support the family because there is no consensus on the na ture of the family.” “While rejecting traditional re straints and controls,” he added, “we have been unable to replace them, with the result that we are moving in the direction of non regulation.” The priest hastened to point out that there is still a "solid core of Christians" who agree in maintaining the traditional approach. These people, he said, "believe that man is per sonally responsible to God for his conduct and that the use of sex must conform to the di vine plan." “Their basic problem,” accord ing to Father Thomas, “consists in living out their ideals in a society where accepted practices and customs frequently lend lit tle support to their cherished values.” -----------------o----------------- Reduced Clergy Air Rates WASHINGTON, (NC)—Presi dent Eisenhower has signed a bill that would permit airlines to grant reduced-rate fares to “ministers of religion” on a space available basis. The measure, passed in the last days of the recent Congress, amends the Civil Aeronautics Act of 1938 in order to authorize the price cuts. A Houso-Senate Conference Committee, which hammered out final agreement between the two legislative bodies on the foreign aid bill, left in it a rider to that effect. The rider on the $3,766,570,000 appropriation hill directs the President to give nn military funds to the Tito regime except for spare parts and replacements for material already sent. Not affected was $100,000,* 000 in military aid to Yugo slavia that already is "in the pipeline." Nor did It touch $17,000,000 in economic assist ance to thet country. A few days before the bill was sent to the President for his sig nature, the executive committee of the Supreme Board of Direc tors of the’Knights of Columbus had urged cutting off alt U.S. aid to Yugoslavia. o----------------- French Movie Given 6C9 Rating NEW YORK (NC) The National Legion of Decency has announced it has evaluated “Fruits Of Summer," French movie distributed by Ellis Films, in Class C—condemned. The Legion announced the fol lowing objection against the film: “The theme of this picture is se riously opposed to Christian and traditional standards of morality and decency by reason of a light and farcical presentation of the virtue of purity.
