This should be some kind of record Heard a small boy say at one of the games, "Our team needs smaller boys.” (just the opposite of the usual battle cry) Holy Rosary’s small team has a lot of fight. Newark St. Francis, has survived without a defeat. Win ning games though is getting to be old stuff to Walter Reid and his Green Wave footballers. In fact St. Francis has never lost a game with Reid at the helm. He’s finishing out his third season and it looks like another undefeated one. Only three schools. Frazeysburg. Magnetic Springs and Hanover-Toboso stand in the way. Saturday night Frazeysburg gets its big chance when they test St. Francis on the YMCA field. It could be a close game, but once again the Green Wave will rule as favorites to record their 17th straight win. Other squads, with the excep tion of Columbus St. Charles and Columbus St. Mary, seem to be fighting to stay above the .500 mark. St. Charles marked its fourth win in five starts at Cir cleville last week with an easy 4Y-6 triumph. The game could have been costly though as the Cards’ ace fullback. Lou “Bomb er” Martin suffered an injury that could keep him out the rest of the season. And that blow could be heavy, especially when the Cards get around to their Nov. 10 date with Columbus St. Mary. Kan Naville's Rams have shown good power in moving to four wins in five outings, their latest being a 39 12 triumph over Dennison St. Mary last week on the Biue Wave field. for Lead it Division LASS A HEAVYWEIGHT W Christ the King 2 10 4 Immaculate C’ception 2 10 4 St. Aloysius 2 10 4 St. James the I^ess 2 10 4 St. Catharine 12 0 2 St. Agatha 0 3 0 0 Class Lightweight Oct. 23 St. John vs. Holy Name— Como St. Dominic vs. St. Francis— Gowdy Holy Rosary vs. St. Gabriel— Wolf St. Augustine—Bye Oct. 24 St. Michael vs. St. Leo— Como Corpus Christi vs. Sacred Heart —St. John Our Lady of Victory v. LOUIS (NO He just had to do it hit those two successive home runs, that is, which insured the 1956 World Series for the New York Yankees against the Brook lyn Dodgers. And. there was more than contributing to the winning of that all-important ball game for Lawrence Peter Berra more familiarly known as “Yogi.” The business of doing what his mom had told him was involved. From New York. Yogi phoned his mother, Mrs. Pauline Berra, 63. who is in St. John Hospital here. A diabetic, Mrs. Berra went through a leg amputation, so naturally the Yankee catcher was worried about how’ she was ting along. He had a long with her and asked if there anything she wanted. Mrs. ra's response was: "Just hit a couple of homers for me.” ThatVas before the sixth game of the Series. Yogi wasn’t able to connect and the Dodgers won. 1-to-O, in 10 innings. The slugging catcher disclosed that he kept thinking about what his mother had said and concluded he just had to hit those two homers. So a day late, he connected for his mother, and the Yanks won, 9-to-0. Meanwhile in the hospital here. Scout TREE Service 30 ROOFING and SPOUTING CODY HARTMAN. Owner years’ experience.
